12// Safe Haven?

Thank the lord for Maddy.
Thanks to her, Nick and Strand, I believe, we have Alicia and Travis back on the yacht.
And that being done, we are back on our way to Baja.
Chris and I have been, how do I say it, distant.
I told him that I love him and he said it back, but after that, he has been avoiding me.
But I guess I get a taste of my own medicine because I did that same thing to him before.
So, my goal for today is that I will talk to him.
No matter what happens, because something always does happen in this world that we live in now.

I sit in the living room as Alicia, Ofelia and I play go fish.

"You got a 5 of hearts?" Ofelia asks me as I laugh at her misfortune.

"Nuh. Go fish" I laugh as Alicia smirks, leaving over to see my cards.
"Hey!"

"You so do you little cheat!" She accuses me as Ofelia opens her mouth.

"You cheat Angel!!!" She says causing me to laugh.

"Nooooo!" I say with a smile.
"I just, bent the truth?" I say, shrugging my shoulders.

"We have a problem. Engine room now" Maddy rushes out as she runs down the stairs.
The three of us look to each other before we drop out cards and head to the engine room.
We clamber down the stairs of the engine room and we wait for Maddy, Travis, Daniel, Nick and Chris.
When everyone is down here, Daniel sits at the door with a gun in hand, us all huddled together not making a sound.

"What's happening?" I whisper to Maddy as she shrugs her shoulders.

"We had company" she replies.

"Oh great" I mumble as I go and lean against the wall of the engine room, next to Nick.
We hear different voices, all of them men, and all of them speaking Spanish.

"One of them is saying that they like the boat" Daniel translates for us.
"He's impressed by Strand's wealth and wants to know how much it costs. And Strand says he'd prefer not to discuss money."

"Careful, Victor" Maddy says quietly, causing me to look at the roof, nervous as all hell.

"Let's talk about gold, then shall we?" Daniel translates and I let out a sigh, wanting the men off the boat already.
"Two bars per head. Luis is making the payment"

"Just take it and go, take it and go" Alicia mutters and I nod with her, leaning away from the wall and standing next to Nick who gives me a small smile.

"Now he's saying it's a big vessel for two people" Daniel informs us.

"Oh my god. Take the money and piss off please" I harshly whisper causing a few people to let out a soft laugh.

"He wants to make sure no infected are on board." Daniel says.

"What's going on Luis?" We hear Strand say causing a bit of panic to be ignited in everyone.
"They have the gold"
We hear Luis speaking Spanish causing Daniel to cock his gun. 

"Wait" Maddy says as she raises her hand to the man, us all falling deadly silent.

All of a sudden the men start to shout at each and a gun goes off causing all of us to flinch back in shock.

"Oh shit" I whisper as we hear footsteps, men groaning and even more gunshots.
Footsteps are the last thing we hear before the engine powers up again causing us all to look around.

We clamber up the stairs to see Strand walking inside, from out on deck.

"What the hell happened?" Maddy asks Strand.
