The sun started to rise across the horizon. It beamed through the glass window barely awakening me.
I turned to my side not seeing my mom. My heart started to race. Just the thought of losing them makes me feel lost.
"She's awake." Someone said.
I turned to see it was mom smiling at me. I was in relief.
"Why didn't you wake me up?" I asked, rubbing my eyes.
"We thought you'd needed more sleep. Eat your breakfast already." Answered mom, opening canned foods we've got.
I got up and joined them. I didn't know what it feels like to be normal again. To eat meals together and watch television until the shit started.
Just as I finished eating, I decided to go on a run. I know the foods we got won't last up to two days.
"I'll go on run." I said, looking them in the eyes knowing that I've done this a couple of times.
They looked down and I knew they were already thinking of what might happen to me. Alone.
"Be careful out there." Replied mom.
"You're the only hope that's left for us." Whispered dad, who slightly frowned.
"I won't anything happen to me. I'll be back here by noon, safe and sound." I said as I grab my bag and I smiled at them, reassuring that I'll always come back.
I left the store where we are staying. I left my safe place with a hope to keep us surviving another day.
I can't stop thinking that my parents are still not safe there. Even when they are inside, they still couldn't be kept by what's lurking on the outside. The world that we got is a chaos. There's more for us to fear. Not just the dead, but also the living.
Someone could break through their door at any moment. A larger group of people who would do anything to survive.
I would do anything to keep walking through this hell too.
Then I reached another town. The street was clear and it was silent. The only thing I could hear was the sound of the leaves fallen from the trees.
I alerted my senses to be ready with what I might encounter.
Something on my way caught my attention. A can of... chocolate pudding?
Great.
I guess someone enjoyed the small things that life has got in stock for us. If there's any.
In front of it was a house. Maybe there's canned foods left inside. At least I could try.
I was heading towards the balcony and watching my steps on the stairs, careful not to trip over and lure myself to death.
The house was painted in white. It seemed peaceful until I saw something moved in the corner of eye. It was a hand in the window.
Someone was in there. Maybe I could help.
I rushed towards it and peered through the gap of the curtain.
A walker showed up. Its eyes were eerie, skin was pale with spattered blood, face and arms are covered in open wounds.
My stomach turned with what I have seen. I have to take it down.
I held a tight grip of my knife until another decomposing face appeared on the other side of the window. I almost screamed as it let out a terrifying groan. Its dilated pupils are burning in to me.
There's two of them. Their jaw was snapping against the thin glass, hungry for human flesh.
These mindless creatures stood between me and the survival of living.
We had to survive.
**A/N: Who remembers this scene from The Walking Dead? (I meant the pudding) Well here it is :) I'm trying to make everything better. Hope you enjoy babies. ♡
