"Carl! Who is that?"
I frozed at the sound of a loading gun. I looked up to the stairs inside the cell block to see a gun was pointed at me. There stood was a man.
"Hello? I am Erin. Are you Carl's father?"He looked at me up and down. "Dad she's got no weapon. She gave it up to me." Said Carl, assuring his dad I could bring no harm. "What is the meaning of this?" The man said, making a man and woman come out from a cell. "Rick, lower your gun. You're scaring her out." Said Michonne as I look down, worrying they might think I couldn't be trusted. "I don't care if I scare the shit out of her. She might be young but she could be a threat." Replied the man, declining what Michonne just asked him to do. "Carl, please. I told you it's okay not to let me in to your group." I said as I turn my gaze to Carl who is already looking worried. "Not now that we made it here, Erin." He eagerly said, looking straight in to my eyes. "Carl, come up here. We need to talk." The man said in a serious manner.
He went up to his dad. I'm sure they'll discuss about letting me stay here. I could here their words in a distance. "Michonne and I met her at the store when we went on a run." Said Carl in a quiet but distinct voice. "Carl, we can't let her stay..." It was cut off by Michonne. "It will be fine." She said, nodding her head. I responded with a smile.
We heard footsteps on the stairs. We looked up and saw it was them. "We'll let you stay in the other side of the block for now." His dad said while walking towards us. "Don't worry, Erin. You'll just have to stay there for a couple of days." Added Carl, flashing me a slight smile. "Thank you." I said, letting out a sigh of relief. "You might want to take a shower before going to your cell." He said, looking at me. "You got showers?" I asked in enthusiasm. "Yes, it's right over there." He smirked, pointing which way is. "Thank you." I said once again, I'm in joy. I walked out of the conversation with Carl leading the way. "Here are the showers. I'm sure Beth wouldn't mind giving you some clothes." He said, I nodded in response.
I pulled the curtain and took off my clothes. I opened the shower and let the water flow freely through me. The dirt and blood ran down my body. It felt so good to clean up the mess the world has brought to me.
Just when I finished, I saw something moved behind the curtains. My heart started to beat faster, terrified of what it could be. "Erin? It's just me." He called out. "Carl, you almost gave me heart attack." I said, calming myself down. "Here are the clothes Beth gave you." He replied, handing me a pair of underwear, jeans, and a sweatshirt. "Thank you." I said, getting dressed up.
I walked out and saw him waiting outside the shower room. "Do you wanna go to your cell block already?" He asked as we walked slowly. "Maybe after I go to Beth and thank her for these." I replied, looking at my worn outfit. "Sure. Her cell is over there. I'll wait for you here." He said, giving out a nice smile. I turned my gaze around before I could feel my knees weaken. Then I headed to the cell which he pointed. I saw a young blonde girl carrying a baby. "Are you Beth?" I asked in curiousity. "Yes. You must be Erin. Come over here." She answered, rocking the baby gently back and forth. "I just came here to say thank you." I said smiling, amazed by her beauty. "It's the least thing I can do. Besides, I think my clothes are the only thing that can fit you." She said giggling, I laughed too. "Is she yours?" I said, smiling at the baby. "No. This is Carl's sister, Judith." She answered, still rocking the baby to sleep. "Where is their mother? Is she here?" I asked as I stopped playing with the baby. "She died on her delivery. Carl has to kill her on his own before she turn." She explained, slighty frowning. "Sorry." I said, looking down as I remember what I had to do too. "But it's long gone. It's fine." She gave out a weak smile. I knew she doesn't cry anymore. "I should probably go now. Thank you again for the hospitality." I said, uttering the words. I bowed down my head to show gratitude, hiding the tears I'm starting to shed in disguise. I walked out of her cell and went back to Carl.
"Are you alright?" He asked as I wipe away a tear from my face. "Yes." I answered, holding everything back together. "Here is your place. This won't be permanent. You'll only be staying here for a while." He said, motioning me to walk in to the cell block. "Thank you. Please tell your dad too." I said as I started to explore the place. He nodded, locking me in behind the bars and started to walk away.
I headed straight to a camping bag lying on the floor and rested my back against the wall. The cell was quite wide and there was only a division from Carl and his group's block. I was alerted by a motion from the left side. I searched the place for something to grab and found a pipe, enough to hit something that just moved. "Hello?" Someone said with an accent. I tried to find a better look for the cell was dim in light. I stood from where I was sitting, still holding a grip of the pipe. "Hey, it's okay. We are prisoners here." He said once again. "Take one step forward." I said in a firm voice as I can only see a silhoutte of a man. "It's okay." The man replied, following what I asked him to do. He was a thin white man with an accent. He was motioning me to put the pipe down until I felt something hit the back of my head.
I fell to the cold ground and started to feel dizzy. Everything went blurry in my vision and seemed to turn around. I tried so hard to gain strength. I struggled to keep my eyes open. The last thing I saw was three or more men surrounding my unconscious self before everything went black.
