Jays POV
"What would you do if you couldn't do you job anymore? Protect the city you live in, Put out the flames that ruined people's homes. Or even help a car crash victim at the scene. How you you feel knowing that someone is in trouble out there and you can't help. I know all of the first responders in the world would feel pretty crapy. We do our jobs as best as we can. Yes we might make a few mistakes here and there, but every decision is filled with good intentions. This job isn't easy but it is amazing. Knowing at the end of the day when you at home you locked up a bad guy, put out a fire, or saved someone's life. That's why all of us Chicago first responders want you to come and join us. Thank You."
I was practicing my speech for the Chicago job fair. For some messed up reason Platt and Voight decided that I would do the speech this year, maybe it was some sort of punishment. I could be at home with my 5 month pregnant girlfriend instead I'm here in front of thousands of bored people telling them to join the C.F.R. Honestly I don't know why I agreed to this.
I saw the whole unit laughing in the back of the conference centre. It made me want to laugh instead I just smiled like a goof. Later there doing interviews with some of the members from district 21 and house 51. They have a men's interview, a women's interview, and a combined one. I'm glad that Erin's in two of them. There are also doctors from Chicago MED here. This is basically a job fair for really desperate people, not really but it seems like it to me. " You did great up there" Erin said as everyone giggled. "Thanks, I saw all you laughing, and maybe a couple things I shouldn't have seen" I said staring at Burgess and Ruzek. We all went to lunch after that so we were full before the interviews.
The Interviews
"Hello everyone I'm Josh Nathanson I'm going to be your interviewer today! We have some of our men from District 21 and Firehouse 51. So let's introduce them! From Firehouse 51 we have Matt Casey Lieutenant on Truck 81, Kelly Severide Lieutenant on Squad 3, Jimmy Borelli On Ambulance 61, and Wallace Boden chief at House 51! And from District 21 we have Hank Voight Head of the Intelligence Unit, Jay Halstead member of the I.U and former Ranger, Antonio Dawson member of I.U, Kevin Atwater member of I.U and former patrol, and Adam Ruzek, member of I.U. So let's start of with house 51, what's it like fighting Chicago fires?"
MC- You know it's not always easy it's hard to drive up to the place and see that someone's home is being taken away by something so hard to control. It's quite sad but it's nice to go in and help.
KS- Agreed, it's definitely hard especially when doing a search for people, it sucks knowing that someone is in there but it's good knowing that you can get them out. Chicago fires aren't actually that bad compared to other places.
JB- I know I'm on Ambo but I was candidate on Truck 81 so I know some stuff, and honestly it is good to help out out these fires.
I: Cheif Boden how are you men at this skill?
CB: Honestly these men are pretty amazing at their job I don't think I've had better. Everyone in this house makes it a home.
The CFD interviews went on for a little longer. " So Hank Voight what are your thoughts on your unit?"
HV: These guys and girl are amazing, I couldn't have asked for better people to be in my unit. They want to be there, and there passionate about there job so it's nice to see.
I: So boys what's it like solving crime on the streets of Chicago?
AR: It's quite fun, I know that sounds wrong but the variety of cases we get keeps the energy flowing and makes the job even better.
JH: I agree the diversity of cases is great, but it's sad to see all this going on,. Because we don't want to raise kids in a corrupt world but some of these crimes are disgusting.
AD: I see what Halstead means, one of are first cases together in I.U was when my son was kidnapped so it's hard to see all of this.
KA: Coming from patrol it's not that bad. I've seen crazy stuff being on patrol. Honestly the intelligence unit is the best job I've ever had because it's shown me so many different things. It's a learning experience.
Erin's POV
The ladies interviews were starting so we all went on stage. It was Kim, Platt, Gabby, Kidd, Brett, and I. The interviewer did his introduction then started asking questions. "So do you think women are undermined when it comes to jobs like yours?"
GD: Definitely, women can be badass you don't need to be a guy to run into a burning building or a drug bust. Women have just as much right to be a F.R but they aren't given it.
" Do you think more women should join?"
KB: Sure, but it doesn't matter what I think. It's there decision but I would totally say go for it.
" What is a job that best suites women?"
EL: I don't want to answer that. You haven't asked us a single thing about our jobs and isn't that discrimination right there? I'm done so if there's no actual question I'd like to leave." Not right there you don't" he held a gun to me. "You realize you're surrounded by cops" I stated. "So what I don't care, women shouldn't be cops, or firefighters. It's a mans job and I think we need to get rid of women who are cops." And right then and there he shot me... Twice. I screamed. Jay ran up beside me. I was hit on my leg and my right shoulder. For the motive to kill a cop he sure has terrible aim. The took me into the Ambo before I passed out. The last thing I remember was hearing "female 26, gsw to left leg and right shoulder. Note victim is 5 months pregnant." Now we wait...
