                                                                             Prologue:

"We're going to be best friends forever, right?" Jessie asked as they both looked up at the bright, twinkling stars above them.

"Of course!" Logan replied to her. They were outside in her backyard lying on the trampoline. Jessie lived right next door and their houses were close enough that on calm nights, they could both open their bedroom windows and have a conversation. The girls were both ten years old and only had a few months between their birthdays.

They had been friends since before they could remember. Each had forgotten the certain month or day that they first met, but they each forgave the other since they had only been five years old when they met. All they were both sure about was that it had been Logan's family that moved in right beside Jessie's. Logan's mother and father were both lawyers, so it was always the best for their perfect twins, their daughter and son. Logan and her twin brother, Tristan, were as close as could be and that closeness extended to Jessie.

Five perfect years passed by as they all grew up with each other. Logan and Jessie always made sure that they didn't leave Tristan alone so he didn't have to play by himself. It wasn't hard to spot the looks Tristan gave Jessie. Although Jessie was oblivious, her parents and Tristan's weren't. They themselves had gotten closer and they would sometimes spend the whole day daydreaming about Tristan and Jessie becoming closer and once they were older, hopefully marry.

So two girls that are going to be best friends forever and a young relationship blooming before it has started. Happily Ever After, right? Wrong! Life has a way of butting in and ruining plans. So no happily ever after, after all? Well we'll just have to sit back and wait.

"Jessie!"

"Logan!"

"Time to come in!"

Both girls sat up from their places on the trampoline. Jessie reached over the side of the trampoline, while Logan held on to her legs so she wouldn't fall. Jessie grabbed the two pairs of flip flops and pulled herself back up with the help of Logan.

After quickly slipping on their shoes, each girl said a quick goodbye to the other and hugged before departing their separate ways. Logan ran up to her back porch where her mother stood waiting for her in the doorway of the french patio door. Jessie hurried through the yards combined fence and ran all the way to the patio where her mother stood in the same place.

It was obvious that as each girl got ready for bed that they were oblivious that in six years their friendship would be nothing more than a distant memory.
