I wake to the drip, drip, dripping sound of icicles melting off the roof gutters. A warm wash of sunshine stretches across the far wall from the window above me, leaving no indication of last night's storm. I gather that I'm in bed; my body numb from the waist down as I'm seated awkwardly up right against the head board. Something is stuck in my ears, it's uncomfortable and my mind jumps to fat little bugs before it smartly recognizes the white wire attached to both pieces and fitted into the earphone jack of my laptop.

I tug out the ear phones, rubbing my eyes to focus in on the site I had up on my screen. It was paused, a female news anchor mid-sentence, her mouth open and brow furrowed with the image of a plane on the screens behind her. The words Hostage Crisis On Board NK-191 shouted at me from their placing at the bottom of the screen. Suddenly last night all came rushing back. I shut the laptop, like that was going to wipe the horrible memory from my recollection. But then I quickly jerk my head up in the direction of Sebastian's bed. He's gone.

"Sebastian," I gasp, tripping over to his bed to make sure I hadn't missed spotting him beneath the covers. But sure enough the bed was empty, and now so were my lungs.

"Sebastian?!" I shouted, rushing into the bathroom. The door was unlocked and I burst in, just as the man was covering his abdomen and below with a towel after stepping out of the shower.

"Woah!" he yelled, tightening his hold on the towel with one hand and shooting the other to stop my advance into the space.

"Oh my god, Sebastian! I'm so glad- I thought...you scared me!"

"India, please," he said, abashedly tucking the corner of the towel into the waist to secure it.

"I-I'm sorry," I blush, bowing my head to the floor. "I just thought you'd...left...or something."

"I am leaving," Sebastian answered.

My head snapped up quickly, "What?"

He sighed and squeezed sideways past me in the door way, heading back into the main room.

"What do you mean you're leaving?"

Sebastian yanked a pair of boxers out of his top drawer and motioned to me with his index finger to turn away. I did as I was instructed, keeping my back to him as he dropped his towel. "Seb, you can't just up and leave. I know this is a shock and all but- "I spun back around to face him.

"No, you have no idea what kind of shock this is, Indi," he replies, fastening the belt on his jeans.

I step towards him, trying to catch his eyes beneath their hooded gaze. "You heard the report, Sebastian. There's nothing you or anyone else can do right now..."

He tugs his hand through his slightly over long hair on the side, making brief eye contact. "You don't understand," he says.

"Yes, I do. You're still trying to process. Listen to me, the officials are the ones dispensing the information right now, and there's no guarantees that certainty of your brother's safety is going to be made known. Be rational right now, you need to stay here."

"Don't," he warns. "I need to be with my family right now."

Heat rises in my face as I'm being put in my place. I duck my head as Sebastian moves past me. He drags a suitcase from underneath his bed and begins tossing unidentified clothing into it.
