Always the same nightmare

Always the same nightmare. Something deep within her told her it was only a dream but knowing it didn't shield her from the brutality of the memories.

She suffered the whole process again. The chains, the loss of her wings, Lucifer's cold stare, the black blood dripping ever closer to her... but something changed suddenly. Just as the drops of her brother's blood touched her lips, she saw Caspiel's image leaning against the bottom wall with his arms crossed and a strange gleam in his charcoal eyes.

She opened her eyes, feeling betrayed and lost. Tears sting the back of her golden orbs, but she had learned her lesson. Now she couldn't afford to cry for every little thing as before... not when those tears brought an overwhelming thirst with them.

A small hand fell heavily on her face, momentarily replacing her sadness with the fleeting pain of her cheekbone. She looked to her side and found Zafan's head leaning against her shoulder. His short blond locks with black roots were unruly while he slept face down with one leg and arm hanging off the bed. How could the child rest like that it defied Luzbel's understanding.

She got out of bed carefully so as to not wake the little boy and remembered the only time she had rested in the arms of Zafan's father. Millenniums had passed, but the memory was clear as day. It was sweet of you to let me recover my energy in your arms after spending three months relentlessly battling demons. You watched me for three days without even moving from place.

Caspiel.

The damn bastard witnessed her transformation into a cursed one and did NOTHING to stop it! Her fury and pain returned immediately when she remembered her nightmare and his face as he watched how they tainted her soul forever. She gritted her teeth, wishing to tear open his pretty neck and watch his suffering.

"So here he was." The deep voice of the Fallen surprised her suddenly. "You had me worried for a few minutes, naughty boy," the demon lord whispered as he gently stroked Zafan's hair.

Ah, good Lord! He was handing her his head on a silver tray!

"I need to talk to you alone," she said, walking out and closing the door quietly behind her. "Fucking bastard! You were there and didn't do anything to help me!" she shouted, pushing him hard against the corridor wall.

Taken by surprise, it took a few minutes for Gaap's brain to understand what Luzbel was talking about. He grabbed her shoulders and teleported them both to his room. She threw herself against him, but before she even touched him, chains that glittered as melted gold, shot out from the far wall to tie around her hands and feet.

"Angelic chains?" the girl cried as she struggled against her metal bonds.

"Your brother took more than angels from Heaven." Gaap gave her a wink before continuing the conversation in a calm voice. "These were given away to every one of the infernal governors to discipline rebellious demons. You cannot escape no matter what you try and only I can break you free."

"What are you going to do to me now? Torture me as Lucifer did while you enjoyed the show?"

"Let me explain to you..."

"I do not want to hear your cheap excuses." She immediately cut him.

He stepped closer and held her face as he clenched his teeth, trying to control his anger. First she strikes him and now tells him to shut up. Who does she thought she was?

"Listen to me. I will not repeat it a second time."

"I wish you were dead." Luzbel said slowly, putting all the rancor she could into the words.

Gaap's black eyes narrowed, looking at her at if she was his prey and he the ferocious predator. His lips curled mischievously, showing long fangs in the process.

"As you wish," he said, his twisted smile never faltering for a second. "You'll stay bound by the chains until it's time to consummate the ritual."

"Are you sure I will agree to become your wife?"

"You'll see. You will see." Caspiel's laughter― as he exited the room― was the last thing Luzbel heard before the door was loudly closed.
