Chapter 16: Settled

I stared at the fire boy.
The awkward silence was broken by Ella.
"I'm sorry Josh, but I do kinda like Jaxon."
The Josh's hands seamed to glow, and soon the ice was not ice, nor water, but steam, flying up past the boys face.
He stormed off away from us.
"You still like me?" I asked.
Ella face froze. Then she ran off.
"Ella!" I called after her.
I ran after her in a hurry.

After about thirty minutes of searching I finally found Ella under the bridge leading across the river towards the shop. I made my way down the steep hill and sat down next to her on the grass.

"What's wrong?" I asked her concernedly

"Everything!" Ella cried. "Brennen broke up with me, I failed my Remedies class, my grandma just had a heart attack and is in a comma, and worst of all if I like you then I loose a friend."

"What do you mean? Loose a friend." I question.

"Rose; I know she likes you; she told me, and she said that you liked someone else, and I'm guessing that's me." She sobbed. "I can't do it!"

"Ella, maybe we shouldn't be together, I don't want to create an argument between you and Rose, and everything with Brennen and you, me and Rose, you and Rose; maybe we should just be friends..."

"I think that would be... nice." She smiled. "Just friends."

We walked back from the river in silence. Ella went to go talk to some of her Fire friends and I went to the dorms.

I walked into my room and looked at the calendar. It was only two weeks till Christmas break. I walked back out into the living room. It was still raining but not as hard as yesterday. I went and sat down with Sarah, Elise, Haley, and Aira.

"How are you?" Sarah asked me
"Good, how about you?" I asked.
"I'm good." She replied.
"Its almost winter break!" I said excitedly.
"Really!?" Elise questioned. "It seams like just yesterday I was in a limo driving into a cave and then appearing here."
"Wait. You drove into a cave and then appeared here?" Haley asked.
"Yeah." Sarah said. "We were both in the same limo."
"I drove into a brick building." Haley told us.
"I drove into a frozen water fall." I told them all.
"I drove into an ocean." Said Aira. "It scared the crap out of me."

"This is what I wanted." I thought in my head. "Both my group of friends hanging out."
"Hey guys." I suggested. "Do you all want to go out tonight and have a picnic."
"Sure!" They agreed.

Later that night Ella, Brennen, Denen, Haley, Aira, James, Elise, Sarah, two of Ella's Fire friends named Jordan and Scarlet, and I all met at the side of the lake on the cliff.
We started eating some of the food Jordan and Scarlet had snuck from the kitchen. Ella and I sat together very awkwardly.
"Just friends..." I thought.
"But you like her!" Said another part of me.
"Just stay friends for now..." Told the other part of me.
My thoughts were interrupted when flashlights shined down at all eleven of us.
