It was Christmas morning, and Alice Liddell didn't get any gifts. It was normal for her since her incarceration. Then to her surprise, Gordon and her friend from the police station Barbara came over to see her. Barbara smiled as she gave a cup of coffee to Alice. "Good news, Alice," smiled Gordon. "The jury has decided to release you and has allowed you to become a citizen in Gotham. Alice happily drank her coffee when hearing the news. "You're going to be living with my daughter and I just in time for New Year's." Then he muttered, "Hopefully it's not as drastic as Christmas Eve." Alice looked him and said, "I'm sorry about... everything. Myself escaping Blackgate, conversing with dangerous criminals, and killing Bumby." Alice held her head, ashamed. "Don't worry about it, Alice," replied Gordon. "You were a victim, and someone would've done the same." Then an officer came over with a guard. The guard unlocked the cell door as Alice held out her wrists. "There's no need for that," reassured the officer. "You did save this guard's life by bringing in the paramedic." The guard nodded as he helped escort Alice out. Alice eventually got comfortable in living with Captain Gordon and Barbara. "There's one thing I ought to know. How did you managed to remember those memories when Bumby tried to erase them?" asked Barbara. Alice smiled, "You wouldn't believe me if I told you." Barbara crossed her arms. "Come on," insisted Barbara. "Try me." Alice sighed as she replied, "I found the memories scattered while I was in Wonderland." Barbara tried to fight a giggle. Alice rolled her eyes as she said, "See? I told you that you wouldn't believe me." Barbara stopped giggling and smiled, "No way! Wonderland is real?" Alice replied, "Only in my mind. I can go to Wonderland and back. The Cheshire Cat taught me that." Barbara sighed, "I wish I could go with you. Going to Wonderland was one of my dreams since I was a little kid." Alice smiled, "I wish I could take someone with me." Then Gordon came in and turned on the TV. The news report of Batman's actions saving everyone in Gotham City on Christmas Eve, considerations of reopening Arkham Asylum, and police officers most likely to become the next commissioner. Gordon happened to be one of them. Barbara gave her father his morning coffee and said, "I bet you'll be a better commissioner than that creep Loeb." Gordon smiled, "It's something to think about." Alice shook her head. "You should at least consider it. The police at least need someone like you." Gordon smiled, "You're fussier than Barbara. You know that?" Then Alice and Barbara protested, "I am not fussy!" Gordon laughed, and then they started laughing as well. Alice felt like she was at home, and loved it. Meanwhile, Professor Hugo Strange was speaking to someone on the phone. "Are the wheels set in place, professor?" asked the person on the other end. "Yes, master," replied Strange. "And what of the girl?" asked the person. Strange narrowed his eyes and said, "She might be a complication." The person commanded, "Find a way to take care of it, professor." Then the person hung up. Strange smiled evilly. Soon Protocol 10 will commence.
