It's been a few days since I started staying at Evan's place. In those days, I guess you can say that we have gotten a little comfortable with each other. Of course, some awkwardness from time to time.
Joanne comes to visit me almost everyday, sometimes with Justin, but most of the time just by herself. Because she keeps company, I forget about my problems. I barely get flashbacks and nightmares. I guess that's a good sign.
Well, except for the fact that I keep getting calls from my brothers. Though I removed everyone in my contacts, I still memorize their numbers. The simplest solution is to just block them, but I can't get myself to do that. Instead, I just let the phone call reach voicemail. And at night I listen to their voicemails. It's not my brothers that I have problems with so I try not to erase them even if I'm trying to start anew.
Voicemail:
Hey. You're a smart girl so I know you're somewhere safe. I know you just want a break from this family and I understand that. I told mom that you're staying at a friend's house for awhile, so you don't have to worry about making up excuses. But just know that me and your brother are here, so even with all the drama going on, you will always be safe once you come home to us. I hope you're not away for too long. I will let you be away for awhile cause all you need right now is a break and a peaceful environment to be in. I love you. Me and your brother does.
*background* I LOVE YOU!!!! (other brother)
I laughed from the background message coming from my brother.
I love them. So much. But I don't know if I can promise that I'll come back to them. All I want right now is to not be associated with the drama and to do that I need to start over.
I let out a long sigh.
Then the door opened. It was Evan.
"You awake?" he asked.
"No, I'm sleeping right now with my eyes open while talking," I responded back.
I gave him a smile and he smiled back.
He came towards me and dragged me out of bed.
"Umm, what are you doing?"
"It's such a beautiful night. Let's have a little midnight picnic."
I didn't feel tired yet, so I agreed to the picnic.
We went out to the backyard and I saw a blanket spread out on the grass. To the side were McDonald's fries, chicken nuggets, and cheeseburgers.
"Wow, nice set up." I joked.
"Why thank you. Took me hours to set this up."
I giggled.
We sat down and ate. While eating, we looked at the stars, pointing out the different constellations that we see.
Because I was done eating, I kept my hands on the blanket. I suddenly felt someone's hand on top of my hands. Shocked, I quickly pulled out my hand. Evan looked shocked too.
"Oh. Uh... Uh, sorry," he said. "I didn't know your hand was there."
"Y-yeah, it's ok," I said. "Actually I'm a little tired. I'm gonna go now."
I quickly walked back in the house.
I didn't really lie though. I was actually getting sleepy. But I was more embarrassed.
When I got in the bed, I tried my best to fall asleep.
Evan's POV
I honestly didn't really know her hand was there. But seeing her shocked at my actions made me feel embarrassed.
When she left, I cleaned up our little picnic. As I was cleaning up, I got a text.
Text:
Hey. I know it's late but I'm at front. Mind talking for a bit?
I went to the front and saw my ex-girlfriend, Sara.
She had broken up with me because of some understandable reasons. Though broken up, we were still friends. So if I need anything, she's there for me and it's the same if she needs anything.
"What's up?" I asked her. "You okay?"
"Yeah, I'm fine," she said. "I'm just stressed. I knew you would still be awake so you were the one I called up."
I came towards her and hugged her.
"Stressed?"
"Yeah. I've been taking extra classes, working a lot, trying to save up. You know, the usual. And with finals coming up, I've been studying like hell."
I hugged her tighter.
"Don't overwork yourself. Don't let it happen like last time."
"I know."
"Imma hug you longer."
"Ok."
"I missed this."
"Me too."
We stayed like that for awhile.
Camilia's POV
I had a really hard time falling asleep. The stars were so beautiful that I decided to take a look at them again.
As I stared out the window, I saw two figures hugging. My eyes focused on them, and realized that it was Evan and a girl.
I gave out a long sigh.
"Must be nice to have someone hugging you like that." I thought to myself.
Out of envy, I watched them instead of the stars.
It was a pretty long hug. When I saw them separate, I quickly went back to bed so I wont be seen.
As soon as my head hit the pillow, my eyes closed and I was asleep.
