Destiny of Dreams: A Canterwood Crest Story

Chapter 4

I awoke to squeals. I bolted upright, worried that someone was hurt. I looked around the bright room and saw Marlee asleep. Hmmm.. I got up and opened the door. I looked down the hallway, and saw two girls jumping up and down. They must be friends that didn't see each other over the summer. I sighed in annoyance and they looked up. One was pretty, a tall asian girl with long black hair. The other was a short blonde with blue eyes and short hair. "Sorry," the blonde said, "we just haven't seen each other in a long time. I'm Riley Sanders, and this is Jaclyn Chang." Jaclyn piped up and said in a very high pitched voice, "Jaclyn or Jackie, whichever you want."

"Okay," I said, "Nice to meet you. I'm Lucia Kendall. I'm new this year."

"Ooooo," Riley exclaimed, "what grade are you in? We're in eighth."

"Hey, me too," I replied, "but I'll have to talk to you guys later. I kinda just woke up."

"Bye!" Riley and Jaclyn said at once.

I walked back in the room, to find Marlee looking at me intently.

"Who was that?"

"Oh, our neighbors down the hall, Riley Sanders and Jaclyn Chang."

"WHAT?! They are bad news."

"Oh. Okay. I guess." I was disappointed to know some of my first friends were bad. Oh well, they can't all be as awesome as Marlee. 

We decided to hit the stables then Marlee would give me a tour. We changed, me into hunter green breeches, a gold t-shirt, and my riding boots (Canterwood colors), and Marlee into black breeches, a green tee, and her short black riding boots. Then, we set off for the stables.

We decided to trail ride. We groomed our horses, making them sleek and shiny, and tacked them up. We rode out to her favorite trail and I took in the breath taking scenery while we rode and chatted for 45 minutes. When we made it back to the barn, we untacked our horses and let them out into the pasture. They seemed to like each other, because they were playing the whole time. 

Still in our riding clothes, we went all around campus. When we got to the last destination, the media center, we went inside to play video games. We walked into the room for Wii playing, and I saw him sitting there. I said, "Hello" and then, he looked up.
