Chapter 1: Denial

Lucy's P.O.V.

It's been two weeks since Natsu's return, and Fairy Tail is Fairy Tail again. There's fights every ten seconds, all you can smell is booze, and all you can hear are arguments or Elfman screaming about being a real man. Everything is great, or at least we try to pretend it is.

Even though Natsu did come back as Natsu, something is off, to say the least. Natsu only comes to the guild for about two hours a day, takes fights too far, doesn't come to my apartment anymore, and, from what Happy tells us, Natsu always gets home really late and leaves early in the morning, but we ignore it. Natsu is back and no one wants to jeopardize that by questioning his recent behavior.

I walk into the guild to see everyone talking, except for Natsu, who once again isn't here. I look around the guild to see Levy waving her hand calling me over.

"Hey Levy-chan! What's up?" I ask approaching her table. "Nothing much, I just wanted to ask you about Natsu." She says. I freeze a little but nod my head telling her to continue. "Has he been by your apartment at all? Because since he's been back I've seen him at the library, and from what I can tell he's been staying there a lot. He is there before I am and is still there after I leave, and I stay there a lot! It just seems kind of off to me." Levy says trailing off at her last statement. I don't say anything and look at the ground with worried eyes.

Once again Natsu isn't acting like himself, and why is he staying at a library of all places! I think to myself. "No he hasn't been by my apartment at all since he has gotten back, honestly I'm getting kind of worried." I say. "Don't worry about it, I'm sure it's nothing." Levy says and I just nod my head, and once again, we avoid the issue.

Suddeny the guild doors burst open and in comes the pink haired person we were just talking about. "Natsu!" I say as I walk towards him. "Oh hey Lucy." He says in plain tone. I choose to once again overlook that he no longer calls me Luce, or that he doesn't have that same enthusiastic tone in his voice, and to top it all off, and I overlook the fact that he forgot he was my boyfiend. He acted like it for the first few days when he got back but then he just stopped trying.

Seeing Natsu walk in I guess Erza and Gray decided to walk up because I hear Gray say from behind me, "Oi Flame Brain you look like crap where have you been?" Gray asks. "None of your business, and I'm really getting tired of those nicknames." Natsu says. Gray looks a little shocked by Natsu's response but still continues. "What are you going to do about it Ash for Brai-" but before Gray could finish his statement he gets punched, hard.

Gray goes flying back to the other side of the guild and hits the wall causing it to dent. "Natsu!" Erza screams at him and runs towards gray who is now on the ground clutching his head, who already has a worried Juvia fretting over him. I look at Gray shocked but then divert my attention back to Natsu who is simply staring at his hand.

"Huh, I thought for sure he would at least burst through the wall and break his neck." I hear Natsu say to himself. My eyes widen at what he just said and look at him in disbelief. "I can't take it anymore!" I scream, and by this point everyone is staring at Natsu and I. "I can't keep ignoring how different you've been acting Natsu! What is going on with you! First you stop being my boyfriend all of a sudden, then you barely come by the guild anymore and are apparently at the library, and now this! What is going on Natsu, please tell us." By the end of my rant you can actually hear the desperation in my voice.

As I look at Natsu awaiting for a response all he does is stare at me, but then his lips slowly start to move upward forming a smile that terrified me. It was not like his usual goofy innocent one, no, this one had a malicious feel to it.

"Natsu?" I ask. "Eeerrrrr" he says like a buzzer in a game show.

"I am afraid that is incorrect."
