Author's POV :
Aphmau lay on the cold, dungeon floor, trying to ignore her hunger and thirst. Aphmau ! What are you doing ? You don't need a knight to help you ! A surge of confidence filled her, making the hurt and hunger wash away. She looked across the floor, glancing at the bones and blood. Why did this happen ? Do they want a ransom ? She scoffed before examining the lock. One of her village friends, Emmalyh had given her a book about lock picking. I look through the bones, trying to pick the one that would serve as a Bobby Pin or a key. Oh my Irene, this is absoulutely disgusting. The yellow bones still had blood stains on them, though the blood is dry. Nasty. But I still pick up a bond and slowly insert it into the lock. Twist and turn and twist and turn. With a small click, the cell door easily slides open. As she was walking along the long line of cells, I spot a familiar face.
" Garroth ?"
" Aphmau ?"
Aphmau's POV :
" What are you doing here ?" It comes out as a whisper.
His voice hardens. " When I let my guard down, they captured me," he growls, " and that's how I ended up here." Then he looks at me pointedly, " Are you part of ... them ?"
" What ? No !" I quickly explain everything and get him out of the cell at the same time. " Oh," he says before smiling at me. " Thanks."
Suddenly, two guard-like people rush toward us. They're eyes winded when they see us, grab our arms and drag us to some kinda weird place. " You never try to escape us," one of them growls.
They push us and we end up in some fancy room. A throne is smack dab in the middle of the giant ballroom looking thing. I slowly raise my eyes to look up at the throne. And for the second time today, I see someone where I'd least expect them.
" Jess," the voice booms.
When I stay silent for a long time, the figure frowns. " Answer me, Jess. Now, or you'll regret it."
Reluctantly, I nod and softly respond," Dad. What do you want ?"
