We've Heard So Much

Three months.

It's been three months since I've last spoken to the man named Ashley Purdy. I can't explain why I never contacted him after he left, or why I had now banned Black Veil Brides from any conversation that included me. Alex said it was because I'm scared of letting people in. Cassandra says it's because of Brenda's one night stand comment, and I couldn't help but secretly agree with Cassandra.

I was scared that once Ashley got what he wanted I'll be left high and dry. Even if our "date" (If he hadn't been lying about how "fun" it'd been) had gone well, I wasn't willing to let him and find out. I don't even know what I was thinking when I allowed him into my car and to my house.

God, I'm so stupid.

"Lexi!" I looked up at Patty, the manager of the five star restaurant I worked at. I was one of the top chefs and actually considered one of the best chefs in Las Vegas (not to brag or anything).

"Yeah?" I asked, laying down the lettuce I had been cleaning.

"We're low on waitresses and since your shift is almost over, do you mind staying behind? I'll pay you extra!" She bargained.

I for sure didn't want to go home where Alex would be, ready to verbally attack me once I stepped through the front door. Same thing with Cassandra if I tried to stay at her house. They were tag teaming on me, always ranting about how I missed my chance with "true love". No where was safe, only work was.

"Sure, why not?" I said and Patty physically relaxed, a sigh escaping from her lips.

She led me to the front of the restaurant. It was around nine and there were only twenty or so people here. The restaurant was twenty-four-seven seeing as it was located on the strip and people came in at all times of night.

"Arianna will help you." Patty said and pointed at a brown haired girl.

"Hey," Arianna said and handed me a simple black apron that wrapped around my waist. I mentally thanked God for thinking about wearing my simple white tank top and black slacks today. "Your tables are one through five and they're in so it's pretty easy to figure it out. I already got table three and five," She explained. "You get the rest, yeah?"

"Sure no problem." I muttered before heading towards table one.

It was strange not being behind the counter. I nervously played with my pen as I stopped in front of the table that held two blonde girls. One was heavily pregnant and was ranting about something while the other, a thin fragile looking girl, nodded her head and was listening intently. Oddly enough, the second girl reminded me of a preppy girl from high school.

"Hi, my name is Lexi and I'll be your--"

"You're Lexi!" The pregnant blonde exclaimed, and the second girl did a double take on me.

"Yeah, I just said that . . ." I muttered and tucked a strand of hair behind my ear.

"Sorry about her," The second girl said, rolling her eyes. "We've just heard so much about you."

"Er . . . How?" I was beginning to get creeped out.

The pregnant girl smiled, "We're friends of Ashley's."

Any guesses on who the girls are?? >;)
