Love is Blind: An Alani Fan Fiction

6th Grade

After all the grandkids got settled, Meghan cleared her voice. She was prepared to tell them this beautiful story. "It was the fall of '14 and everyone was getting prepared for their first day of middle school. Including Kalani. Looking at her schedule: Mrs. Cook first period, Mrs. Daniel second, Mrs. Cantin third, and lastly Mrs. Register fourth. She heard good things about all of her teachers, but she was still nervous about making new friends. She made her way to school, perfectly on time. She then made her way to first period. As she stepped into the classroom, she was greeted by an abnormally short teacher who always mixed Kalani up with her sisters. Mrs. Cook seemed nice, Kalani wasn't worried. She looked around the class and she didn't recognize anyone. No one. But she had to sit somewhere. As she looked around she saw a lonely girl sitting in the corner. She had slightly blonde hair and looked like she had no friends, and she didn't. Kalani went next to the girl and sat down. Kalani said, "hi, I'm Kalani." The lonely girl was taken by surprise, no one usually talks to her. But, the lonely girl responded with, "um, I'm Meghan!" That was a start of an unusual friendship.
After they talked for a while, Meghan noticed someone staring. And Meghan said, "don't look now, but that guy Allen is looking at you." Kalani, not following Meghan's don't-look-now rule, said "who" and and turned around. What a fool? Allen took her for a surprise and went back to doodling on his notebook. Kalani then turned to Meghan and asked, "who is Allen?" And Meghan then replied with, "oh Allen! We went to high shoals together and we sat next to each other in language arts, he's a doll! And he totally has the hots for you. You should go talk to him." Kalani was taken by surprise, people usually don't stare at her with googly eyes and gush over her but clearly Allen did. She took it as a compliment. Meghan then broke Kalani's fantasy and screamed, "HEY ALLEN YOU SHOULD COME TALK TO KALANI!!!" God, that girl can't keep her mouth shut Kalani thought. Allen's face lit up as he strolled over. Meghan introduced us and Meghan slowly walked away. Silence. Just don't sit here! Say something her inner Kalani told her. "So, how are you enjoying your first day?" She managed to blurt out. Good thing she said something, because they had a very educated talk. It turns out they had EVERY class together! A smile went across both of their faces. But the smiling broke when the bell rang. Meghan caught up with us because she also had Mrs. Daniel next. Then she whispered to me, "I hear geminis and Scorpios make great couples." Kalani sighed. Meghan knows way too much about astrology, and I've only known her for an hour Kalani thought to herself.
As the year trudged on, it was finally Christmas time. Kalani made some great friends this year, and some not so good ones. But her love for Allen grew stronger. And all of Kalani's friends picked up on it. I mean, Kalani and Allen did everything together. I mean they had a lot in common. They both were in band, both had the same sense of humor, both were in the same friends group, and they were both quite smart. They were meant to be together and they both knew it. But who dates in 6th grade? No one. So they both knew they had to wait. But the urge was strong. They talked everyday and even Meghan felt like Kalani wasn't spending enough time with her friends. But why confront love that cannot be tamed. Meghan knew better.
The year went by so fast. But Kalani was on a mission. She had to get her yearbook signed by Allen. She dreamed he would write a long love letter, but she knew his parents were too protective so she knew he wouldn't dare. But she hoped for at least a HAGS or something. But all he did was write a sloppy signature. Just a sloppy signature. She was livid. She wrote him the longest letter ever but all he wrote was his name. Meghan told her to shrug it off. Which Kalani did because she couldn't stay mad at her forever bae for long. As the final bell rang of the 6th grade year, she went up to Allen and said goodbye and to keep in touch, which they did all summer. They texted all the time, and she knew she would snatch him up in 7th grade. He was all hers. No one could touch him, or so she thought."
"NO DONT LEAVE THE STORY THERE GRANDMA!!!!" her grandkid Ryan Ross whined. "Well I need to give you guys another reason to visit me. I've been so lonely after my very rich husband died. Now all I have is my 25 pugs," Meghan said. "Oh okay then," her three grandkids said in unison. Her grandkids kissed her goodbye they walked out the door. Meghan was all alone. She poured a bottle of Jack Daniels down her throat and continued on her life.
