The large, white tom cat stood looking at the moonlight through the open window. He purred deeply thinking of his life, he had two owners who fed him well and a little "package" that often whined or cried at his owners. He sighed and looked at his front paws and his perfectly manicured claws, "When will I get out of here", said Marble. He knew some cats would kill to have his life, but his spine shivered when he thought about spending seemingly endless nights looking into the starry night from Marble's perch on the small window sill. He felt a slight breeze on his short cut fur and turned around. His eyes widened as he took in what he was seeing, one of the windows behind him was open and emitting a grassy smell of the outside world he had been longing for so long to see. He padded to the window and jumped on the counter that would lead him outside, he sniffed at the window and was taken aback by the difference from his pampered life in the camper Marble lived in. he nervously leaped out the window and yelped as his padded paws touched the soft, grassy earth. He looked around and bounded towards the trees that he had seen from his window. When he got to the edge of the forest he skidded to a halt to listen to the sounds of the forest, it seemed so alive at night with the noises of crickets, owls, and other animals.
He padded into the sea of green and went stiff when he saw a pair of yellow eyes blink back at him, then all of the sudden they disappeared. He continued his scan of the forest with his deep navy eyes. He saw a small creature scurry across the forest floor. He suddenly had an urge to scamper after the small thing. His curious demeanor got the best of him, and before he could register what he was doing in his mind he was scurrying after the little figure. Marble slammed in to something and the strange shadow yelped. "Hey! Watch where you're going!", Said a smooth yet agitated voice. Marble looked up as he rubbed his nose and was met with the same yellow eyes he had encountered with his first steps in the forest. " Umm... sorry, said Marble as he stared at the she-cat's sleek, black fur and confident air, Marble noticed she had a white, oval-shaped mark on her forehead. "Who are you?", asked the strange cat as she frowned at Marble, "You're new, aren't cha'? "... Yeah, uh, my name is Marble", he answered confused from his tumble with the strange she-cat. "Well my name is Twilight." Twilight suddenly flopped down on the leaves and as they crunched beneath her she began to wash herself nonchalantly, Marble looked at her. "What?" She mumbled as she continued to lick her flank. "So how did you get here?" She asked , done with bathing. "Umm, I ran away from my owners." This got Twilight's attention, and she looked up with surprised eyes. "WHY WOULD YOU LEAVE A HOME!!!!." Marble jumped in surprise at the raise in her voice, "I couldn't stand being pampered my whole life, and never seeing what was on the other side of the window I was forced to look out my entire life." " that is to deep for a cat, come on cats do NOT worry." "You know what, I'm going to show you how to be a cat, follow me." Suddenly, Marble was grabbed by his tail, "OWW!" Marble yelled.
Marble was dragged in silence for about fifteen minutes before Twilight mumbled through Marble's tail to get up. Without knowing it Marble had dozed off on the trip, and when he looked up they were in a burnt section off the forest. "what is this?", Marble said as he licked himself clean. "This is my home", said Twilight proudly. Suddenly a small, orange tom slinked past the two cats and Twilight looked up and said, "Flame, where are you going?" The orange cat blinked at him and Twilight with jarring green eyes and said, "I'm going to see where Saige got off to". With that Flame scampered out of the burnt clearing.
