The day she lost her mind, is the day he found his heart.

Autumn Winters

PULLING my cardigan close to my body, with arms wrapped around it, I took one last glance into the house I grew up. The house I once called home, but then later on grew afraid of going into. I didn't pack any things with me, but I did have my old locket inside my pocket.

It is raining when I got outside, the sky is dark, due to the rain and into the time of the day. It is only three o'clock in the morning. The world is still quiet and almost everyone is still half asleep.

I wonder how many people are up right now, thinking about life choices, thinking about decisions. I wonder how many hearts are widely awake right now, yearning for someone. I wonder how many bodies are cold at this time, waiting for the warmth of someone. I wonder how many once hopeful hearts and minds are now awake at this early in the morning with shattered hearts and broken dreams. I wonder how many people are like me.

I drive past the ice cream shop I grew to love. The place where I call my haven, the place I always go to when everything feels like falling apart -- besides of my old room. I pass by a flower shop and the book shop around the corner where I had spent most of my Thursday and Friday nights.

I'm gonna miss those places.

Turning onto the right corner, I can already see from afar the ocean. I am so close to where I am headed at. The rain is starting to fall harder and harder each passing moment, making it hard to drive on the wet road.

Heavy droplets of rain splattered on my face the moment I set foot outside my car. I didn't bother on taking out my umbrella, I'm not gonna need those anyway. Wrapping my arms around my body, I walk barefoot onto the white sand. Ignoring the heavy rain falling down making my vision blurry.

I stumbled twice while I was making my way through the dark. I cursed myself a lot of times until I finally reached the seashore. I can hear the sound of the ocean standing out through the quiet town. The hard waves, my final wave.

I step once more, inching closer to the ocean, my feet touching the cold water. I look up into the sky, with the rain trickling down my cheeks, but at this time, I don't know if it was the rain, or if it was my own tears pouring down.

Taking off my cardigan and discarding it onto the sand, I walk closer into the ocean until half of my body is the only thing visible into the air.

'This is it.' I whisper to myself.

Closing my eyes, and inhaling one last breath, I lay down onto the ocean water and let the strong waves swallow me into nothingness.
