3: Good Charlotte

5:09pm

April 2nd, Saturday

Home, Beverly Hills

"Alice! Leah! Mom! Cath!" I threw open my door and yelled into the hallway.

"What?" Mom calls from downstairs.

"I don't know what to freaking wear! Can you and Cath come up here?" Yes, my boss was over. My mom and Cath were good friends because my mom was Cath's math professor in her first two years of college and then she dropped out.

"Ooh yay! I'm ready for this!" I can hear Cath's cheery voice coming up the stairs along with both of their footsteps.

"What time is he coming?" My mom asks, coming into my room.

"He didn't come in the morning but he texted me saying he'd text me later." I said, casting a glance at my phone.

"If he won't text you, you text him." Leah said, sauntering into my room. Leah didn't believe in chickening out or being afraid of one's reaction. Alice follows behind her and starts rummaging through my dresser drawers. Leah grabs my phone off my desk and tosses it to me. Catching it and unlocking it, I went to my messages and started to text him.

Me to Coffee Boy: What time are you picking me up??????

He responds immediately.

Coffee Boy: @ 6, does that work for you?

Me: give a girl warning jeez that's in less than an hour

Coffee Boy: I'm sorry!!!!!!

Coffee Boy: I need your address

Me: 576 North Crescent Drive, Beverly Hills

Coffee Boy: Kk see you soon Carter

Me: Bye coffee boy

"He's coming at 6!" I exclaimed.

"Holy shit we gotta move." Mom swears. The next forty minutes were a blur of my mom, Cath and my sisters doing my makeup and making me try on different outfits. I ended up wearing a tank top, black skinny jeans and converse. A lot of black which was something I never really did.

"Hey, can I talk to Carter for a second?" Henry appeared in my doorway. My team of motivators and supporters exited my room and my brother stepped in.

"What?" I said coldly. I was still mad at him for what he said yesterday.

"I can't believe you're going on a date." He said after a minute.

"Wow, thanks." I rolled my eyes, crossing my arms over my chest.

"No not in that way. You're just getting older and it's hard to watch you go out with some boy who's gonna break your [little] heart. I'm not saying he will," he defended when I glared at him. "I'm just saying it's a possibility and if he does, I will destroy him." Henry smiled sadly at me and pulled me toward him for a hug.

"Thanks for the vote of confidence." I said sarcastically.

"Love you."

"Love you too."

"Carter!" Alice screamed from downstairs.

"He's here!!" Leah finished for her.

"Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god." I repeated, starting to pace back and forth.
