~Joely's POV~

Its been one month since we fought the witch. Its been one month since I've seen Hailey. Its been one month.........since Hailey died. I sat in my room at Gallows Manor. I moved in with Kid until I can actually step foot in my old house without bursting into tears. Thunder had decided to stay over there, he'd lay on the floor of Hailey's room and stare at her bed. Every time I tried to get him out of the house, he'd whimper and shake his head and say 'She's coming back. She promised to always come back.'

I sighed and  laid down on my bed. Sleeping had started becoming an issue lately. I'd wake up every night crying and in a cold sweat. Kid would have to come in and comfort me back to sleep, sometimes I wouldn't go back to sleep at all. Every time I closed my eyes, her death played over and over again.

~Flashback~ (One month ago)

The ball of fire grew bigger and bigger, until it was half the size of a football field. The ceiling started cracking and chunks of it were falling. The witch said something, but I couldn't hear her. Out of the corner of my eye I saw everyone run for cover. I tried to leap for cover, but a piece of the ceiling fell and landed on my foot.

"MY FOOT! ITS STUCK!"

I cried out in pain, but I was so sure that nobody heard me. I was so sure. The witch threw the ball of fire right at me. I waited for the heat to burn me alive, but that wasn't what I felt. Arms wrapped tightly around me just before the ball of fire hit. Heat soared over my body, barely touching my skin. The flames lasted only a few minutes, but it felt like hours.

"I'm so sorry. I never-never w-wanted to fight."

That voice. I recognized that voice. I looked up into Hailey's eyes, her skin was cracked and covered in ash. Her clothes  were completely gone, but you couldn't really tell. She fell backwards, but she didn't hit the ground. Instead, she floated up. Her body slowly started falling apart.

"HAILEY! NO!"

I screamed as tears flew down my face. I jumped up to grab her leg, but I only got a fistful of her ash. I fell to my knees as the entire place started falling apart.

"Joely. My best friend is like my sister. You are my sister."

Her words sliced into my soul like a knife through butter. I screamed her name over and over again. I felt arms wrap around me and pick me up. I started kicking and screaming.

"LET ME GO! WE HAVE TO SAVE HER! WE HAVE TO! SHE'S MY BEST FRIEND!"

I looked back at the person holding me. I felt my breath hitch once I noticed who it was. It was Blackstar and tears streamed down his face.

"She'd want us to live. Not die with her."

His voice cracked as he said that. I looked back up at her. She was almost completely gone.

"Take good care of her. Please."

Blackstar nodded and I screamed her name, but she didn't hear me. She was already gone.

~Flashback End~

I sighed and just sat there. Knowing she wouldn't want me to cry over her death. She'd want me to celebrate her life.

"Joely?" Kids voice rang in my ears as he knocked on my door.

"Yeah?"

He opened my door and my eyes widened. He was in a clown costume and he honked his nose. I flattened myself against the wall and started crying.
