Us and Them (Soul Eater fan fiction)

No way.............your alive?

~Joely's POV~

Its been a long and hard day. Between all the missed school work I now have piled on me and all the apologies from everyone. I sighed as I walked down the hallway.

"I need a break from everything." I said as I rubbed my face.

"Hey, Joely."

I looked towards the voice and smiled at Blackstar. He's been taking Hailey's death pretty hard. We all have. From what Tsubaki told me. He hasn't been sleeping or eating much, but he works out more than usual.

"Mind if I hang out with you and Kid?"

"Sure," Kid said and picked me up from behind.

I squealed and laughed. Blackstar frowned and looked away. It got quiet after that as we walked outside.  looked around and realized everyone outside was looking at the sky and talking loudly.

"What is that?"

Kid asked and pointed at the sky. I looked up confused. A rather large flying creature was circling the academy. Blackstar stared at the figure, his face scrunched up in concentration. Then the shape started getting closer, a heck of a lot faster. Arms wrapped around me and pulled me back. A pair of jaws snapped right where I was just a second ago. The arms let me go and I looked up at my savior. Blackstar stared the creature down. He had pushed me behind him on instinct.

"Joely!" Kid yelled as he threw Patti at me.

Its become our thing. When I need a weapon, I use Patti. He uses Liz. I looked up at the creature and found out that it was staring at me. Our eyes locked and I gasped. Its eyes took on a feminine look. The color, a gentle light brown, reminded me of somebody.

"No, but your-"

The creature reared back its head and opened its jaws. It exhaled so hard it created a hissing noise, followed by a bright orange light. I instantly recognized it was breathing fire!!!! I screamed as the flames hit me.

"JOELY!!" Kid, Liz, Patti, and Blackstar yelled.

I opened my eyes and realized I wasn't dead. I pointed at the creature and laughed.

"HAHA! MISSED!"

Its lips turned upwards in a cocky grin. Another trait that reminded me of Hailey.

"Oh, did I?"

"Um, Joely. Look down." Liz said.

I looked down and screamed. MY SHIRT WAS FREAKING MELTED OFF!!  I marched right up to the creature and shot it right in the chest. It was obviously not expecting that cause it lurched back shrieking. It raised its arm and slashed down at me with its claws. There was no time to move, so I raised my arms and waited for the impact, but it never came. I lowered my arms and gasped once I found out why I wasn't dead. Kid stood there with his arms wide open. The creatures claws dripped with blood.

"KID!!!" I screamed.

He slowly fell to his knees and I grabbed him, pulling him into my lap. Tears fell down my face and I gently touched his cheek.

"I-I'll be f-fine."

He stuttered. I glared up at the dragon. It sniffed Kids blood looking confused.

"Kid?"

Its eyes lit up in recognition.

"Joely? Blackstar?"

It looked from me, to Blackstar. I looked at its soul and sobbed even harder. Its soul was EXACTLY like Hailey's.

"Hailey...."

I sniffed. She just stared at me, tears welling in her dragon eyes. She lowered her large scaley head to Kid and licked his wounds. After a few licks his wounds stopped bleeding, but they didn't heal. She licked my face and stood back a bit. Kid opened his eyes and smirked.

"At least your symmetrical."

I sighed in relief and so did she. I cradled Kids head smiling.

~Blackstar's POV~

I just stared at her. As soon as Joely said her name. The entire world stopped. I couldn't breath. My best friend. Was alive. The girl that made my heart skip a beat whenever she laughed. Is alive. MY HAILEY IS ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!!! I felt hot tears fall down my face.

"Hailey?" I said as aloud as I dared.

She turned to me. Our eyes locked. Her eyes. They were still the same beautiful gentle brown, but they were different now. They no longer held the happiness in them that she always had to share with everyone. Now, they were filled with pain and sadness.

"Blackstar." She whispered breathless.

She started walking towards me. I walked towards her. We stopped a few feet away from each other. She lowered her head almost to the ground right in front of me and looked me in the eyes. I didn't hesitate to hug her head. She closed her eyes and leaned into me. She suddenly pulled back. I looked at her confused, but it didn't take this god very long to see why. Her entire body glowed and she slowly started to shrink. I watched her until she was smaller than me. She stopped glowing and stood there surprised.

She was human again. She also had no clothes on.

"Dude! Girls got a nice body!" Some guy whistled.

I growled and took my shirt off, placing it over her head. She slipped her arms through the arm holes and tackled me in a hug.

"BLACKSTAR!!!" She yelled and nuzzled into my chest.

I sobbed into her shoulder and she sobbed into my chest. I fell to my knees and so did she. We sat there for a good ten minutes holding each other, refusing to let the other go.

"JOELY!! KID!!" She yelled and ran over and hugged them.

I smiled and went over there too. Her and Joely were crying. Kid looked awkward being sandwiched between them both. Hailey pulled back smiling.

"I have a lot to tell you guys."

"Yes, you have a lot of explaining to do. Hailey." Lord death said as he walked up.

His voice was deep and scary instead of fun and squeaky. She nodded and stood up, my shirt acting like a short dress for her. After she hugged everyone again, she launched at me again and buried her face in my chest. I just held her and kissed her hair.

"Death, I missed you." I mumble into her head.

She mumbled something, but I couldn't quite hear.
