Victoria chose a simple white and nude dress. Her maid put her hair up in an elaborate dutch braid up-do and some small jewels that stood out in her midnight black hair.

As she rounded the corner that lead to the library, she ran into someone. He was taller than her so she ran right into his hard chest.

"Ow." she said and clutched her forehead. The man held her shoulders to steady her.

"I am so sorry, I-" there was sincerity in his voice, but when she looked up at him, she saw why he stopped.

He recognized her and she recognized him. It was Teague Eberhart. Of all the people she could of run into, it was him. Just her luck. She had told her grandmother to tell them that she wasn't feeling well, hence the reason why she couldn't join them for breakfast.

But here Teague was, holding her by her shoulders, and probably thinking, she doesn't look weak or tired at all. Why wouldn't she want to have breakfast with them?

She sighed and removed his arms from her shoulders politely, said good morning and walked away like nothing just happened.

"Hold on." He said, in his deep velvety voice. She felt him grab her forearm and gently turn her around. She snatched her arm out if his grip and was about to say something rude, when she looked into his eyes.

And it was like the world just...stopped. They were so blue. So hypnotizing. She just couldn't find her voice again. Her mouth opened and closed like a fish and he smirked. As if he knew what his stupidly beautiful eyes did to her.

She shook her head and berated herself. I'm sure he uses those eyes on every girl he meets. You shouldn't fall for his tricks. God knows what kind of a person he really is.

"Excuse me, but my uncle is waiting for me and I must really get going. Have a nice day." She said and turned around to continue her trip.

"Why do you do that?" She heard him say from behind her.

Without turning around she said, "Do what?" But she knew exactly what he was talking about. Why did she always run away from him? That is if you consider twice always.

She waited for his answer, still facing away from him.

"You know what I'm talking about." Came his velvety voice again.

She took a deep breath and pushed away the sudden urge to grab his perfectly sculpted face and kiss him. She mentally gasped at what she had wished for.

"I don't know what you mean." And before he could say anything else, she walked down and hall and into the huge library.

James was already waiting for her and had set up the chessboard. When she walked in he smirked. "Usually I'm the late one." He said.

She rolled her eyes and plopped down into the armchair across from Uncle James. "I just ran into someone." She said with distaste.

"Ah, I see you've already met your grandmother's guests?" He questioned in an amused manner.

She sighed. "Only one of them and can we please not speak about hi-them." She corrected herself at the last second.

James nodded sensing her unease when talking about the Eberharts. He guessed something must have happened with the Eberharts' son for her to act like this. She would never not talk about someone. She just loved gossip. He had to admit, it was very amusing to listen to her speak.

"All right, let's begin." She said, the thoughtful aura gone from her. She moved the pawn on the very left forward.

He raised an eyebrow in question. This seemed like a new technique. Alright, he would play her game. He did the same and moved the same piece forward.
