Beep! Beep! Beep!
My alarm clock blared into me ears. The clock read 6:13.
"DAMN IT" I screeched to no one in particular. I had to be on the bus by 6:53 in order to make it in time for work. I tossed on the "uniform" everyone in section 37 was forced to wear. The uniform consisted of a tan long sleaved sweater, a black pencil skirt that ended above the knees and a pair of red high heels that destroyed the skin on my ankles. The guys had to wear black dress pants and matching jackets with a tan button up shirt and red tie. But these uniforms only applied if you were working or going to school.
I managed to make the bus on time but as I sat on the bus I noticed an add on a bus stop for a law firm. It read: If all men are created equal then why weren't you? Stand up for your rights by calling,
1800-UhaverightsI scoffed and thought if all men are created equal then why weren't all women???
This was all I could think about for the rest of my school day.
My school day was nothing out of the ordinary my teachers just had us take more and more notes for the end of year finals. When I got home I hung my bag on it's propper hook and did my usual routine of studying but in one of my history books it read, Ratified on August 18, 1920 the 19th amendment to the U.S. constitution granted American woman the right to vote-a right known as women suffrage. At the time the U.S. was founded its female citizens did not share all the rights as the men, including the rights to vote.
I frowned, we had read about the constitution in history class. It was a way for the old country America to maintain its freedom. I thought to myself, what if Ďimona got a constitution? Then we could be free too. I immediately shooke the thought from my head. Our government would never do such a thing. Especially since only men ran our government.
I continued to ponder this as I tucked myself into bed.
