Chapter 7

I'd been working for about 3 weeks and Jason still hadn't raised my pay. But I continued working as hard as ever. I walked into my office to find Jason sitting at my desk.

"I'm going on a 6 day trip out of Ďimona to help my old business friend set up his new law firm in Manchoma." Jason stated cooly.

"Sir." I said, "what does this have to do with me."

"I would like you to accompany me." I grinned.

He's finally accepting you.

Who said that?

Your continuous.

Cool. We've never talked before.

Ya. We don't talk much anymore.

Jason waved his hand in front of my face, "Earth to Chase," he said sounding annoyed, "will you come with me?"

"Yes sir," I grinned,"it would be my pleasure."

"Good, you are excused from work today. Go home and pack. Meet me here tomorrow at 5:30a.m." He said.

I grinned at him as I hurriedly scurried from his office. His cold eyes followed my out the door. When I entered the hallway I did a little victory dance. I heard a soft chuckle behind me and I whipped around to find none other then Peighton standing in the shadows laughing at me. I felt my cheeks heat up faster than my shower heats up.

"What are you doing here?" I asked still mildly embarrassed about my happy dance.

"Just here to visit my loving brother. "

I scoffed, "loving isn't the adjective I would choose."

Peighton laughed and raised his eyebrows, "Ok, what would you call him?"

Sexy
I nearly slapped myself, at least I didn't say it outloud.

Peighton burst out laughing.

"What?" I questioned.

"Sexy?" He said with a chuckle, "does he know this?" I fealt the blood rise to my cheeks again.

I glared at Peighton,"No," I threatened, "and he's not going to know."

"Whatever you say, cupcake," he said with a laugh as he opened the door to Jason's office, "but I'll only keep this secret on one condition,"

"Ok," I reasoned.

"Go on a date with me." My jaw dropped lower than the grand canyon. Before I could respond he handed me a folded slip of paper and with that he strolled right into Jason's office leaving me in the hall trying to lift my jaw from the grand canyon.

I reasoned the idea of a date with him, but then I facepalmed. I was going on a trip with Jason for 6 days! Oh well, I thought, Peighton will just have to wait.
