I open my eyes to the calm beeping of the heart monitor next to me. Then realizing i have a face mask on for breathing, i presumed, i sat up slightly. Before i knew it my mom woke up, sitting at the end of my bed so calmly and had obviously fallen asleep waiting for me to wake up.
"Amanda! oh my gosh!" she yellped as she pulled me close and hugged me. As usual she was almost sufficating me with her tight grip, luckily she stopped after hearing the heart monitor get faster and faster.
"Sweetheart how are you? are you feeling alright? how's your breathing? can you breathe alright?" she was talking a million words a second, and frankly it was making me dizzy. I simply nodded my head yes and held her hand, motioning for her to calm down now knowing i was ok.
Taking a deep breath she finally calmed down, well atleast a little anyway.
"Knock! Knock!" a nurse said walking through my door. why would she bother saying that if shes already in? "Just came to check up on Miranda she said with a wide smile. Her hair bugged me though. LIttle strands stuck out way too far from her tight bun. The auburn hair color made me jelous since i'd always wanted to dye my hair a similar color.
"Alright, shes awake now and doing fine so far" my mom exhaled a long breath with a wide smile "and she had that mask on for a few hours now."
"Ok thank you very much Ms." the nurse said implying that my mom needed to leave the room for a moment.
As my mom left the room, i finally calmed down long enough to sit back and relax as i looked about the room. About two dozen flowers filled part of the room away from the machines and what not. Across from me, where a small chair sat in the corner, where about 22 small boxes all wrapped in marvilous ribbons and shiny paper. Around 6 cards leaned up against the numerous boxes all in bright colorful envelopes.
A small little felt covered box on top with a small shiny bow really caught my attention for some reason. It had a small card with it , with the same color enevelope as the bow. The petite nurse must have noticed i was looking at it cuz then she trotted over and swooped it into her hands. Walking back over she handed it to me ,"dont worry all those are for you, you'll be able to open them another time. "
As i took the gift and card from her, i realized the box was much softer then i imagined but although my curiousity shifted towards the box, i opened the card.
Dear Amanda,
I am incredibly sorry for what happened! I hope you feel better soon and once you are feeling better i would really like to take you out for dinner or something for the problems i cuased!
Love, Cody
p.s. you're cute when you're scared :)
Presuming that "Cody" was the guy who asked for the gas, it was sweet that he wanted to take me out to dinner "or something". But that p.s. part just ticked me off. Im laying in a hospital bed becuase of him and all he can say is hope ya feel a bit better and btw ur cute when ur scared!. I could already tell he was a bit too full of himself. go figure just like every other guy whos wanted to take me out for dinner.
I carefully set the card down, making sure not to get it tangled up in the IV's that were in my arm. Taking the soft little box i opened it slowly. Inside is what caught my immediate attention. I gasped and looked at it closer. I'ts amazing.
I couldnt take my eyes off it, everything about it just amazed me.
Although that Cody kid didnt have much of a way with words, he certainly knew how to pick Jewlery.
Not to mention he knew how to pick out a blue and silver necklace, with a small heart shapped blue stone in the middle. It was the most amazing piece of jewelery i owned and i coudlnt wait to put it on.
