Chapter 8:

Reese and Xander woke up the next morning locked in the storage closet of an abandoned Craftian building. The previous night, the Warians had decided that would be their new meeting place, so they moved them there too. And besides, it would be kind of weird to keep two dangerous Warriors in Jordan's basement.

"Alright, got a plan to escape?" Reese asked her brother, rubbing her eyes.

Eyes still closed, Xander replied with a short, "Nope." He sat up and opened his eyes. "I'm too lazy to think. Can't you just kick down the door?"

"Already tried that earlier. Didn't work. I can't pick the lock either." She sighed, scooting back and leaning against the wall. They heard the sounds of footsteps and people talking. "Great. Here they come," she said, rolling her eyes.

The Warians had entered the building and were now in the single big room. This time, Kylie had brought her younger brother, Nick.

"Hey do you fucksticks think you can let us out now?" the Warians heard Reese say after they entered. "Or at least give us food or something?"

"Was that Reese?" Nick asked Kylie.

Kylie sighed. "Uh, yeah. We have to keep her and Xander locked up now so they won't try to kill us."

"...Oh," Nick said, still a little confused.

After a four-second silence, Jordan said, "...Anyway, changing the subject. So last night after you guys went back to Waria, we found a cave in the woods with an old dude sitting at the end of it. Before we could say anything, he told us to come back when we were with you guys."

"He knows about all of this? How?" Sparky asked, leaning up against the wall next to Adam. The Craftians just all shrugged.

"Maybe he's a wizard or some shit," came Reese's muffled sarcastic voice from the closet, followed by her and Xander's taunting laughs.

Ignoring them, the Warians continued their conversation. "So should we go there then?" asked Jerome.

"If you do, can we come too?" Xander asked.

"Fuck no!" Tyler immediately exclaimed. "You're just gonna try to fucking murder us!"

Mitch walked up to the storage closet door. "If you two do come, you're not bringing any weapons whatsoever. At the first sign of you two stepping out of line, we might just push you guys off the island. So, do you promise to be good wittle ninjas?" he said as if talking to young children.

"Yes! Now fucking let us out and never talk to us like that again!" Reese yelled.

Mitch glanced to the others, then unlocked the door. Reese and Xander walked out calmly. "Alright. Now can I please have something to eat?" Reese asked. A couple Craftians stepped back.

Xander rolled his eyes and sighed. "You know, we may be heartless killers, but we're not cannibals."

"ANYWAY," Ty interrupted, "let's go to that cave now."

---

They walked through the woods, the sun getting higher in the sky, which was clear of all clouds except maybe a few thin ones streaked high above. It was warm, pleasant, and there was a gentle breeze. Just your absolute perfect day to be meeting up with a suspicious old man in a dark cave in the woods.

Reese and Xander trailed behind, mainly because everyone else refused to be within five feet of them, even the other Warriors. Reese turned to her brother and whispered, "Watch this." She smirked and snuck up behind one of the Craftians, Tyler, and said, "Boo."

Tyler screamed, along with Kay and Lizzie, who were walking closest to him. Reese laughed and walked back over with Xander. "Pussies," she said loud enough for Tyler to hear.

The group continued on until they reached the cave near the edge of the island.

"Alright, who's going in first?" Brice asked as everyone exchanged looks while standing at the mouth of the dark cave.

"You," said Xander, pushing him in. Brice reluctantly walked into the cave with Kay right beside him. The rest followed, stopping at the end where there was nothing but a tattered old blanket.

"Aww, well isn't that a disappointment," Reese snorted, stifling a laugh. "Anyway, I'm outta here. Let's go, Xander. Dad's probably wondering where we are." She grabbed Xander's wrist and began walking out of the cave.

"Stop," said a voice back at the end of the cave. Reese froze and turned on her heels. "Stay, child. You must listen to what I have to tell you all."

Reese and Xander reluctantly went back further into the cave and listened to the weird-looking old man, who had appeared out of nowhere.

"Alright, dude, just say what you need to and make it quick," Reese mumbled.

"Thank you," the man said. "This will take a while, however, so you all may want to take a seat."
