Chapter 1:
>14 years later, present day<
Things had not gotten better over the years. Craftia was dying, and nothing its people were doing worked. They still had some crops and animals left, but not enough to last more than about a year if no problems were solved. The Craftians were doomed, but they still tried to live happy. If they were all going to be gone soon, they might as well die happy.
---
It was early in the morning, and very few people were awake in Craftia. It was warm, but not too warm, and there was a small breeze. The sky was blue with few clouds, and the sun shined bright on the horizon.
Kay sat under a tree on the edge of Craftia, facing a village and searching for anything to draw. Her eyes landed on a wolf sleeping in front of its owner's front door, and she began drawing.
As she finished her drawing, a piece of paper floated down and landed in front of her. She put her pencil and pad down, and looked up into the tree where it looked like the paper had come from. When she saw nothing, she picked up the paper and saw a drawing of the same wolf.
"I finished before you." The voice behind the tree started her. He walked up to her and laughed.
Kay punched him in the shoulder. "Brice! You scared the crap out of me!" she said, also laughing.
"So?" Brice said. "Anyway, I got you breakfast." He held out two apples, and handed one to her.
She grabbed the apple and took a bite, saying, "You know, I could've gotten this on my own."
"Too bad," said Brice with a full mouth.
As the two walked down the stone path in the village, they began to hear screaming and yelling. Then, they smelled something burning and saw smoke rising up into the clouds in the distance, and heard a loud boom.
Lizzy and Jimmy came running up to them, out of breath and their eyes wide in fear. "Guys," said Lizzy, taking a breath, "Something's happening in town. There are people there with TNT and diamond swords and--"
"Wait, what?!" Kay said.
"We're being invaded," said Jimmy.
---
The town was in chaos by the time they got there. Bodies lay on the ground, children were crying, and people were panicking. There was a huge hole where TNT had gone off, and everything was on fire. People who definitely weren't part of Craftia were everywhere, blowing up buildings and killing anyone in their way.
"What are you guys doing?!" a guy with an iron sword in his hand said. "Go hide! It isn't safe!" And after her said that, one of the invaders lunged at him, slicing into his side with a sword. The guy dropped to his knees as the blood poured out, and Kay, Brice, Lizzy, and Jimmy ran away before they were killed as well.
They ran and didn't stop, until they were pulled into a small obsidian building. The iron door was closed behind them, and a torch in the corner was lit. Other than them, there were four other people inside who they didn't know. Before they could say anything, the other four people led them down a ladder, which led into a much bigger room that was more well-lit, with several beds lining the walls, chests, and some other furniture.
"Who are you people?" Lizzy asked once they were all in the room.
One of them stepped forward. "I'm Jordan, and that's Adam, Ty, and Jason," he said, pointing to each person as he said their name. "What are your names?"
They introduced themselves as well, and then Brice said, "So why did you pull us in here?"
"We were saving you from those people out there," said Adam. "You're all unarmed and obviously can't outrun them. You would die in minutes."
Ignoring the last couple sentences Adam said, Kay sighed and said, "Do you know what's going on? Any of you? Because we sure don't."
They all nodded. "Another island is invading. We knew it would happen, but no one believed us. And now look what happened," Ty said, rolling his eyes and flipping his hair.
There was banging and yelling on the door up above. A voice desperately said, "Help! Let me in please! Before she gets here! Please!"
Jordan climbed up the ladder and looked outside. There was a teenage boy with big glasses at the door. He had scratches and bruises all over him, and a deep cut running from his left wrist to his elbow. Jordan quickly opened the door to let him in, just before a girl with bright cyan hair came, wielding a diamond katana. She looked around, and when she didn't see anyone, she ran back the way she came.
"Thank you so much," said the boy as Jordan led him into the underground room.
"Woah! What happened to you?" Kay exclaimed when they entered the room.
The boy leaned up against the wall, winced in pain, and went to sit on a table. There was another huge cut on his back. "I was being chased by this crazy girl and two other guys. They got me, but I ran away from them. They guys eventually gave up, but the girl kept following me."
Everyone stared at his wounds. He looked horrible. Jason opened a chest in the corner of the room, grabbed a box, and tossed it to him. "There are bandages and other stuff in there. Take whatever you need," Jason said."
As the boy treated some of his wounds, Jimmy asked, "So what's your name?"
"Tyler," he said. "How about you guys?" They all said their names, and Adam explained everything to him.
"Wow," said Tyler.
"Yup."
---
By nightfall, all the invaders were gone, leaving much of Craftia in ruins. The two-thirds of Craftians who were still alive gathered in the main town, where someone had found a note left by the invaders.
The note said: "We are the Warriors from Waria. We found your island fourteen years ago, and have been taking from it ever since. And now, we want a war. You have no choice. Prepare yourselves."
