Chapter 10 - Suspicions

Chapter 10:

Reese and Xander walked through the gates of their mansion, greeting the guards who always kept watch armed with diamond swords.

"Where have you two been?" the ruler of Waria asked his children when they entered their home. "Do you realize how long it's been?"

"Um...no?" Reese said.

He sighed in frustration. "And your new swords?"

Reese and Xander looked at each other, then back at their father. "We were...um," said Xander, trying to think of a believable lie. "We were practicing our fighting with each other and accidentally dropped them both over the edge of the island. Sorry."

They could tell he wasn't believing any of that, but he just sighed again and brushed that off. He didn't have time for this; he was in the process of winning a war. "Alright. So I was going to ask you two if you could help train some kids since all of their combat teachers are fighting. What do you say?"

"Will you pay us?" Xander asked. He was, for the most part, joking, but getting money out of it wouldn't be a bad thing.

He shrugged and answered, "Sure. Whatever you want."

"Alright!" Reese exclaimed. "Give us more details tomorrow. Right now, I have to talk to Xander about something." She grabbed Xander's wrist and dragged him up to her room, closing and locking the door behind them. She grabbed her opened pack of Skittles and sat on her bed.

"What?" her brother asked her.

"Keep your voice down, dude," she said, just above a whisper. She looked around the borders of the room, spotting something in a top corner: a camera. "Ugh, come with me."

She took him into her closet, checking it before closing the door, turning on the light, and bringing her brother to the very back of the room. "Okay, so should we tell him?" she whispered.

"Ew this is where you change and shit, isn't it?" he said, spotting a bra on the floor near a mirror. "Wait, what are we talking about?"

She smacked his head. "What do you think?!"

"Oh," he said, rubbing his head. "Ow..."

Reese rolled her eyes and continued. "Anyway, should we? I don't wanna just keep that from him, because he could find out later and we'd be in trouble. But we might also get in trouble if he realizes that we didn't just kill them or something right away and we let them go."

So either way, they were fucked. Great.

"I don't know. You're smarter than me! Figure it out!" Xander replied a little louder than he should've.

Reese let out a deep breath, leaning up against the wall of her big closet and shoving a handful of Skittles in her mouth. "I really don't know... Let's just go tell him."

The two went downstairs. Halfway down the second staircase, Reese stopped, backing Xander back up to the top. "Wait. Listen." They could hear their father's conversation with a few guards.

"I've been keeping surveillance on Craftia. Let's just say my kids are hiding something from me," he said. "I need you to keep an extra close eye on them. Report anything weird to me."

"Shit. He knows."
