CHAPTER-18

A few months ago

I confess I was startled to see her beauty when I first saw her two weeks ago in the mall. And, today, she was here again, sitting right across me and eating chicken nuggets.

I am not a person to throw around extremely beautiful or drop-dead gorgeous lightly, so when I say that she was the most beautiful girl I have ever seen, I am being completely sincere.

I would have definitely walked up to her and introduced myself if it was not for my mom calling me again and again; losing my patience, I picked the call up.

"Hello, Ma," I answered the phone.

"Hardik, why were you not picking up my call?" fired my mother. "I got so worried."

"Oh, the call, um, I was in the wash-room-" I lied, unconvincingly. "-and I left my phone on the table."

"Table? Where are you?" she enquired.

"I am in KFC!" I replied at once.

"KFC!" she shouted in disbelief.

OMG. What have I done?

I struck my tongue out and shook my head like crazy. I knew all hells will break loose if my mother would come to know that I eat chicken.

"Are you eating chicken?" she asked me in a disapproving tone.

"N-No...Ma. I am having veg-snackers," I lied again.

"They don't have veg-food there," corrected my mom.

"They do now," I muttered.

"You better get back home right now. I would like to talk to you!" she said, sternly, before hanging up.

I contemplated deeply about what she meant by you better get back home.

I am not going home.

At least not now.

"This is ridiculous!" I said, disappointedly, and banged my fist on the table much to the amazement of faces around me.

I blurted out the fuss my mother just kicked up to Arjun and Raghav who contended themselves with laughter.

Obviously my mother's nagging wasn't new to them.

I watched across the table and then looked around. She was gone.

Present day

On my way to the coffee shop I kind of bumped into this girl and kind of stared deep into her eyes and kind of got little bold and said "Wow, you are beautiful!!"

At first she gave me surprised kind of looks but then covered her face with her hand to kind of hide her smile.

It was adorable.

She was alone and took the corner seat once we both got in. I settled right across her but two seats away. She was so gorgeous that it was hard for anyone to look away. She noticed my presence as her eyes met mine.

Her face did ring a bell to me. If I was not wrong she was the same girl I saw almost few months ago in KFC. I was so enchanted by her beauty then that I almost spend few sleepless nights thinking of her.

How could I possibly forget a face as gorgeous as hers?

I watched her reading the book and couldn't take my eyes off her. Of course, this happened when she was not looking at me.
