My body was slightly numb as I stumbled through the cold white wilderness. By now, the average person would practically have some serious frost bites or may be frozen walking about a mile, lost in a mild snow storm.

But not me.

The icy breath of the wind blew at my coat and stung my eyes as I tried to see through the falling snow. I continued pushing myself hoping that soon I'll find somewhere safe to retreat for the night,or else I may end up turning into a wolf's cold dinner.

Winter,as harsh as it may seem or be,has never failed to fascinate me no matter how bone chilling it may get. Maybe its because I was born in this season or because i was gifted with ice carving skills, and making and controlling snow, which is very rare among elementals or so I hear. But whatever it is, I seem to be more at peace when winter is around than in the other seasons, despite having to keep moving from inn to inn, dealing with my emotional distress and keeping a sane mind with all these disgusting self centered crooks that I happen to meet in these inns.

Being a traveler isn't easy, especially when you're trying to lend a helping hand every now and then and have problems of your own. One of which is having everyone staring at you wherever you go but I'm working on not freezing them. Doing well so far. Despite all of that,I relish the feeling of seeing homeless having something to eat or learning something new,or playing a game of soccer with the street children and how happy they must feel in their new homes.

"It was the best I could do and it was good enough", I reminded myself as I numbly continued to walk, the wind and snow playing with my hair.

The snow hadn't slowed its falling and I desperately needed somewhere to stay. I could see the outline of the narrow road as I walked and the trees started to slightly disperse from the queue it had along the roadside. I squinted my eyes as I observed a medium sub urban house at about two blocks or so from where I was standing.

" Thank goodness",I breathed shakily, vapor escaping my mouth. I hurriedly moved towards the home, hoping with all my heart that the persons residing there would allow me to stay for the night, the least.

As I came closer to the wooden building, the wind caressed my face with its frost coated fingers. I came to the door shivering harder with the added anxiety that sat facing me. I knocked three times on the delicately polished hardwood door and waited. My heart jumped as I saw the soft golden glow of light shining at the windows near the door and felt it settled at my throat as I heard footsteps approaching the door. The knob clicked and the door opened slightly to reveal a slender, medium built lady with short brown curly hair,in pink pajamas, and big brown eyes filled with shock, concern and surprise.

"M-may I p-ple-ease stay a while h-here m-ma-am?" I asked tremblingly as I made eye contact with her, even though I wasn't cold.

The woman blinked a few times before she opened the door wider and yanked me inside.
