Frozen flames--A Dream?

Chapter 10

  "Sorry." I said to Eric. He nodded in forgiveness. I was sitting around a campfire in a forest outside the complex. I was sipping on a cup of hot chocolate too. I was surrounded by 10 or 15 people who all wore the same cloaks. It was so silent I could hear the crickets chirping. I was still terrified of them.

"So, do you want to get that explanation you asked for?" Eric quietly said to me.

"Sure, that would make so much more sense in my life."

"Okay, here goes. For two years that awful group, shil'm has been capturing supernaturals. I was one of the first ones. But Zeke was here before me." He pointed out a tanned teen who was sitting against a tree with his legs pulled to his chest and his head down. "Aaron was there during our sessions, lunch, training, roll call, you name it. But then he started disappearing. One day Millm followed him." He pointed out another kid. "He followed him to a room of supercomputers. He took one of the hackers in our group to there and he hacked the computers. We learned that they were creating a serum to knock out all of the kids. We also knew they put it in the stew. I am sorry I had to push you over. I was saving you."

"It's okay. It was necessary."

A sound like a bird going tweet tweet tweet-tweet bursted through the night. In a sudden rush, all of the boys had gotten up and started yelling and stamped out the fire. They ran to get the tents and before long everything was packed up.

"What's wrong?" I asked Eric.

"Never mind that, they're coming."

"Wait, wh--" I was cut off by clouds rolling in and Eric had took of into the forest of black night.

 I ran through the bushes after him. I dared to look back and saw the most horrifying thing in my life. At first it was just a bird-like creature, a supernatural I guessed, that must have sounded the chirping noise. Then there was a loud thudding noise and Eric grabbed my arm as we entered the complex again.

We walked up to a large glass window at another room in the top of the complex. There was another loud thudding noise as the trees near the campsite came crashing down. I couldn't believe it, if we had stayed for a little longer, we would be dead. There were many supernatural running at the complex along with these large beasts that looked like a mix between elephants and robots and a bird. As far as I could see was a army of supernatural beings.

The glass shattered in front of us. Glass sprayed everywhere. Some pieces lodged into my chest and arm. Eric was smart enough to run back away from the blast. What I had not noticed was a large army of more bird people who were picking up the supernatural and hurling them at the complex to get in. One person got hurled through our window. Eric grabbed my arm and started running through another door.

There was pain. Surging through my chest and arm. Every time I took a step, pain. We went into a room where eric must have thought the supercomputers were. But there was nothing there. He pulled a card out of his pocket and scanned it on the wall where there was a scanner I had not noticed. A door was revealed to the side and we went through it.

Aha! There were the supercomputers. Eric sat down in the dark room and didn't bother turning on the lights. I stood behind him as he typed in the passcode and logged in to it. Across the 3 screens were cameras of the whole place, a tv thing and then there was a normal desktop.

Eric turned on the tv, and our jaws dropped in horror.
