Chapter 6:

My wolf sniffed the ground and the air. I knew his hiding place, behind a large oak. I snarled and ordered the pack to stay where they were. I slowly crept up to the tree, my eyes in furious slits. As I turned the corner, I saw another werewolf.

My wolf was confused, and I tilted my head. The large canine looked at me and lay down, exposing his belly, showing he was no threat. I sniffed around him, only scenting a lycan on his pelt. I motioned for him to follow me and he cautiously obeyed, keeping his head to the ground.

My father looked at me with a stern gaze, and I showed him the wolf next to me, and I described him as an omega rouge, and asked for permission for him to run with us. My father sniffed at the cowering canine next to me, and snorted, signaling that he was allowed to run with us tonight. He told me to watch him, so I motioned for the omega to stand next to me. He looked at me and gave me a goofy smile before I started to run again.

He kept pace with me, and the whole time I saw Dmitri waiting to kill him, seeing an omega with the alphas. We ran until we saw the moon leaving our sky, and the pack dispersed, leaving to return to their homes. My father looked at me with the omega, and knew that I was fully capable of protecting myself. My father ran up to the house, and I could see him change at the front door.

The sun started to rise, and I changed back into a human, covering my face from the morning. When I lifted my hood to see who the omega was, the only person there was Puck. I glared at him, and snarled.

"Puck, what are you doing here?!"

He smiled slightly, but saw my glare and looked down. "I-I just wanted to see you..."

"Are you serious?! You could've been killed, Puck! You know I don't have control on full moons, and neither does the rest of the pack!"

He frowned at me, his eyes filled with seriousness. "W-well why didn't you tell me you were betrothed?"

My eyes went wide for a moment, and I almost yelled. "Puck, what does that even matter? We live in different worlds, and it was so stupid of you to risk your life just to see me!"

He opened his mouth to speak, but nothing came out, and he closed it. He hesitated before whispering softly but angrily. "Best friends are supposed to tell each other everything! I never want you to be with that creep! And I risked my life because I wanted to see you! Why can't you understand that?"

"Because best friends protect each other, not try to get themselves killed!" I paused. "What is your issue with Dmitri?"

"Because he is not the right guy for you!" He looked into my eyes, his own filled with fury.

I tilted my head back a bit, and rose by eyebrow. "And what kind of guy is right for me, Puck? Since I haven't seen you in almost 12 years, I would like to hear your answer!"

He froze where he stood, and his eyes grew wide, blushing slightly, barely showing because of the sunrise. He didn't speak and instead, he turned and walked off into the shade of the trees, his head down. I shook my head, irritated, and walked back to the house, and spotting my father in the doorway.

"So who was the omega?" He said with seemingly innocent curiosity.

"His name is..." I paused, acting like I forgot. "His name is Angel. He is a recent rogue from the Elders Pack."

My father nodded his head in approval. "Very well, he will stay until proven a threat to the pack." My father turned to walk into the house, but turned his head to look at me through the corner of his eyes. "And you are meeting with Dmitri again today in the clearing. 5 pm sharp."

I nodded, dreading 5 o'clock.
