Zara's POV:
"WAIT UP!"
He turned to look back at me, his eyes shining full of curiosity and looking at me, begging to ask questions. I think I just opened the door for him to find out about our life. Now, I'm screwed.
"Why?" he asked me. Bella was by his side, observing the sudden fight. She seemed completely oblivious as to what was going on. Not catching on to Noah's epiphany.
"Huh?" I questioned in an attempt to confuse them.
"Why have none of you met anybody outside of the island? Have you never left? Is there a reason? We heard bad rumors about this place, but now meeting you guys, I'm starting to get concerned." He asked menacingly. The glint in his eyes spoke that the spell of the island had broken. He no longer looked at me with eyes full of curiosity, but with a fierce determination, in hopes of having his questions answered no matter what. And no matter what, I can't tell him.
"There's nothing wrong, it's just a shame to walk away like this. This is your first day on the island and we were all just starting to get along," I answered, stalling.
"You're not answering my questions," he hissed back poisonously. At that tone of voice, it felt like a needle had just pierced my heart as I watched him grab Bella and lead her home, stomping all the way.
"Well, that didn't go well," Narissa's small voice spoke out into the tense air, that Noah had left behind with him when he left. I could still feel that small needle, pushing deeper. Not only did I feel sadness, but anger flared up in me as well. Like a match being lit, I walked to up Hunter.
"Hunter I hope you have a reason as to WHY ON EARTH YOU HAD TO DO THAT!" I screamed, my voice increasing in volume with each word that I let out of my mouth.
"I was just being cautious. God, what's wrong with you?" he hit back, with his silent yet scary tone.
"YOU JUST BROKE THE FUCKING SPELL! I MEAN WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU?! YOU JUST HAD TO ACT ALL SUSPICIOUS AND ACT LIKE A DICK! FOR WHAT REASON, THAT HE'S NEW?!" I yelled back at him.
"IF YOU ALREADY KNOW, WHY ARE YOU ASKING!" that's when he seemed to realize that he gave in to his anger. At realizing that, in a calmer tone he argued back "No one has moved to the island in 60 years, yet a new family suddenly appears out of no where? If anything, they're the suspicious ones!"
That's when I had enough. I stormed away to the jungle near the beach, walking on the rocky, worn out path from the years that passed. Opal, Maddie and Narissa followed behind me, as we exited the jungle and arrived at our secret beach. I sat down on a rock near the ocean, while Narissa stripped down and walked into the ocean. Opal, sat down beside me and a bright glow emanated from Maddie's back.
In an instant, huge gold and white wings, broke out from her back, as she lifted herself to a light hover near us. She looked at us, relieved of the pressure from being around humans and granted me with a smirk. "You don't know how uncomfortable it is when your wings are trapped inside your back,"
"I do!" I heard Narissa answer as she swam deeper into the ocean. She jumped out making arches and back flips, before finally calming down. "The need to swim at night is so strong for a mermaid. You don't even want to witness me on a full moon, it's as if I have no control over myself."
"Guys, thanks for coming with me," I said, grateful for my friends.
"I don't think you know this Zara, but we'll always have your back," Opal responded. the other girls just nodded in agreement. They all then discussed the Matthews, while I just stared at the moon, it's magnetic pull as strong as ever.
Then I heard howling...

A/N:
Sorry, guys! It's been a while! Don't kill me! I just have a lot going on in these past few months. I nearly thought of quitting the story altogether, but I promised myself to start finishing whatever I started. I'm also really sorry for the short, crappy chapter, but now I think I've gotten the hang of my story and I've planned out all the plots, so prepare for every twist and turn!
More bad news, I won't be able to post every weekend like I promised, but I will start uploading this story more often every month.
Love from your lazy author,
