Noah's POV:

"NOAH STOP! LET GO!" Bella screamed at me. Immediately I let go, my hand balled tightly into a fist, my jaw was clenched. How could I be such an idiot?! Leaving everything behind without a doubt, not realising how stupid I was.

Bella glared at me, "What was that for?!"

"What?" I looked at her in surprise, I almost forgot she was there. " Bella, have you seriously not noticed?" I asked her. I couldn't believe how naive she was.

" Did you seriously not notice how weird this situation is? We've just been blindly following on with whatever dad has been saying. We've followed him to an uncharted, mysterious, backwards island without a second thought! But what I'm even more mad at is getting myself in this situation in the first place! I could've stopped this! I could've just moved away with aunt Rachel or convinced dad to let me stay. It's only been a year since mum died and he drags us off to a weird place with weird islanders and..." I stopped ranting when I took a look at her face. She seemed to have suddenly awoken, as if waking up from a year long dream. I remember that at the funeral, she was the only one who didn't cry. But I also know that she was the one who was hurt the most deeply.

Seeing her eyes gloss over, I stopped in my tracks and gently took her hand. "You know what, I'm sorry."

"Why should you? You obviously don't want to be here. You should just hop on a boat back to England so we don't have to see each other again." She replied in a cold voice.

Wait, has she not listened to a word I've said? In frustration, I started pacing. I just pointed it out it for her that we were on a weird, mysterious, uncharted island, following a father who doesn't even tell us what he does for a living. The cherry on top is now our new neighbours already hate our guts. Fantastic!

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Bella move on ahead, leading us back from the path we followed with the Sears all the way back home. We trudged back in silence, walking up the driveway all the way to the font door. Then I heard howling.

Looking over at Bella, it seemed she didn't hear the deafening sound. Then I saw black circles surround my vision, and I felt myself sway from side to side.

"Noah, are you okay?" The sound of Bella's voice was the last thing I could make out before I let the darkness swallow me up.

Joshua's POV:

" Agent Matthews, come in" The radio crackled in the car at the sound of my boss, Oscar Davidson.

" I'm here, You know Oscar I'm pissed with you dragging me out to work early" I had only just arrived for him to go and send me on a wild goose chase.

" Like I give a shit Matthews. Just get on with the work. I'll contact you back on radio in twenty minutes." that pisstaker retorted. He ended the sentence with a crackle from the radio.

I finally arrived at the forest, parking my car at the wide opening. Leaving the car, I closed the door, locking the car as I walked further into the dark forest. I switched on my flashlight and glanced at the low-hanging tree trunks. I took in a deep breath, taking note of the damp air. I trudged through the waterlogged sludge, dragging my heavy body further into the forest, dodging the heavily populated trees and tree trunks. With each step I took, the sticks snapped loudly. Then I heard a howling noise.

The noise seemed to be coming from the west, so I decided to pick up the pace. Running (or stumbling) towards the noise. I followed the noise to a clear landing, only to see nothing but broken sticks and what seemed to be animal prints. I followed the trail of animal prints, to a large ditch. I looked around, committing the sights and the trail into memory, before I slowly looked into the ditch, taking in the sight of a body drenched in blood.
