(Y/N) looked down at the tiny glowing heart floating infront of her, gathering it together with her two hands.
"..Your soul starts off very weak, and can grow by..." Flowey didn't finish his sentence, but instead looked away in disgust.
"..Grow by..?"
"Killing innocents. That's how you gain EXP, so that your LV can grow. What's LV? It's LOVE, an acronym for 'Level Of Violence.' " Flowey spat in reply, in which (Y/N) flinched at the word 'Killing.'In an instant, five white pellets appeared over Flowey in a semi-circle formation.
"These are bullets. You dodge them."
The bullets proceeded to approach her. Unsure of how to move her soul, she panicked as the pellets slowly stopped to a point where they couldn't hit her soul.
"...You don't know how to move your soul?" Flowey sighed. "Try walking about, it's linked to how you move..and stuff..."She looked at the flower, then back down at her soul, attempting to move to the left. Seeig how the soul moved a little to the left, she smiled and slid to the right. It moved in synchronisation with the slide and in no time, she finally learnt how to control her own bright red soul.
"That's it!" Flowey exclaimed. "Maybe these attacks are a bit too...much for you.."
"Well...Is there anyway I can 'level up and be stronger to handle the bullets'?"
"Yes..but.. There is a better way where you can surpass the whole LV thing, and it's by using the [MERCY] button." He advised, glancing over at what seemed to be the last 'button' in the row of options instead of the [FIGHT] option. She lifted her hands and skimmed above the yellow, rectangular option, until finally pushing down on it. Another two options came by: Spare and Flee. Without hesitation, she reluctantly tapped on the spare option, and at once, everything faded back to the cosy room."Mercy will be useful in most situations. Even though everyone will want to kill you, I...I think you can get through to them with mercy!" Flowey cheered her on, grinning.
"Thank you, Flowey." She spoke, standing up. "Hey...I have an idea."
"..What?"
"How about we test the whole battle schtick with real monsters?"Flowey pouted, as though (Y/N) just offended them.
"...Sorry, uh, no offence."
"It's fine, it's fine. I mean, it'll probably be a better idea, so lets go search for some monsters to..mercy?" Flowey uncertainly rushed, as (Y/N) smiled."Let's go."
***
The two halted to a stop when they took to their first encounter, a froggit by a corner in the hallway. Flowey looked concerned and (Y/N) excited, strangely enough. As they approached the monster, the walls turned darker, the grounds too, and once again, they were both engulfed in the midst of the darkness of the battle.
The red-toned froggit revealed itself with an attack, almost too fast for (Y/N) to dodge. But even after being hit once, she still managed to skim over to the mercy option. To no avail, the froggit ignored her offer of kindness, and began unleashing an arena of attacks all attracting to her soul.
She got hit twice, and this time, she glanced back and Flowey, who gestured her to run away and probably never come back. But a feeling of determination surged through her, and at once, she knew what to do.
"You are very pretty, dear froggit!" She complemented, as if the froggit would really understand her. Even so, they still managed to crack a smile.
She could feel the attacks being a lot more easy than before, and in no time, the battle had ended, the froggit looking a little less grumpier at her. Heavy pants of exhaustion were all you could hear from (Y/N), but resilient as she was, she caught her breath back again.
"That...was awesome! Let's find another monste-" She began, as Flowey cut off with, "No! No no no! You will die out there!"
"Oh c'mon Flowey," she complained, "I'm sure if I practice it more, I can master it and find 'Mercying' an easy action!"
"But..." Flowey muttered, his face drooping down. He had already given her a chance at fighting another monster... Could he give her another?"...Fine, Fine, just...don't tell me I didn't want you."
"YES!" She yelped. "I mean..Yes!"(Y/N) grabbed Flowey and her bag, sprinting around the ruins before they met Toriel. She had already seen so many monsters before, but none of them ever approached her when she smiled at them. It was as if they didn't like her presence, but she smiled on anyhow.
"Why aren't you stopping to mercy the...Whimsums and Froggits and-Y'know? The mobs of monsters that you smiled at earlier?" Flowey asked, shrinking into the shoe seeing as a Whimsum glared at him.
"I...I kinda want a challenge. The froggit was okay, but I feel I could do better!" (Y/N) held onto the shoe with the flower tightly.
"What?! You almost got yourself killed just trying to fight the Froggit!" He hissed in reply.
"No I didn't, I lost like....three! Three HP! That's all."Flowey hesitated.
"...Still, you got hurt and that's not good, it never is! Just make sure you're health bar doesn't reach to zero before I can even assist you."
"Okay." She replied to his awfully long advice, halting to a sudden stop after hearing an elongated 'OOO', which they both knew for a fact was something new.But what they didn't expect was to turn around, and see the darkness growing from behind the transparent, dark atmospheric entity infront of them, that growled in a rather angrily-
"(Y/N)!! RUN!" Flowey exclaimed, pushing himself in the opposite direction of the angered ghost.
"No." She said.
"Let's do this."
