The next day I went to my normal duties. I couldn't shake of what happened yesterday. I was walking past the cells again to the courtyard. This time I stopped and peered inside the cell 'he' was in. "Empty" I mumbled as I walked away. The commander probably transferred him because of what happened. "Hey Maria, think can keep a close eye on this one for us" another officer asked pointing to the crimson streaked ebony hedgehog. "I suppose so" or he was just released into the yard, apparently. I walked over to my post, not far from him, so I could watch him. He took no notice to me and didn't really care for 'chatting' with the other cell-mates. Instead he was the center of attention, "hey, what do you think you're doing?" a rather large pig asked him. I put my handle on my taser, not knowing what was coming next. I wasn't worried about what he would do to the pig, some reason I was worried about what the pig would do to him. I noticed the rest of the guards didn't take notice, lousy bastards they could care less of these 'animals'. "I'm sitting here, are you blind?" he asked with such a venomous voice, but calmly. "What was that, dirt bag!?" "deaf too?" he teased him. "If you don't shut your trap I'ma kick you into next week pal" "Oh, stupid too-" the pig swung his fist at him. I clenched my taser tighter, ready for anything. "Hey! That's enough!" I walked over there and the pig just walked away. "Keep walking! and you-" I turned around. He was up off the ground from the punch, his nose was bleeding though. "God damn it" I said glaring at him. He then suddenly pushed me up against the fence and threw my taser away from me. "What are you doing?" I asked with my mouth dropped. I was scared, I got to admit. "I should kill you, the only thing stopping me is the snipers on the roof waiting to shoot me if I make a move." He tightens his grip on me, "I'm just wondering why I'm not dead yet" I raise an eyebrow. "They should have shot me by now, threatening an officer while a 'human' gets a warning" he slammed me against the fence, "why haven't they shot me yet?" he hush yells. I drop my head, "because I told them not to" I had signaled the snipers with my hands not to shoot him. Although with anyone else I could've cared less, he was different. He let go of me, he lifted my face up with his finger. "What's wrong with you?" I looked at him, "I could ask the same thing" I shoved him off me. I felt okay with doing it and not thinking twice about it. Bang. I turned around, he was lying on the floor. I ran up to him and rolled him over. It was a tranquilizer-dart, "sweet dreams" I got up and left when the other guards came and removed him from the field.

I sat outside his cell, waiting. He mumbled a bit and turned to his side. "Good morning sleeping beauty" he looked at me then turned around. "How come your so much calmer in here now? When you first came here you were so much more powerful then" he came up to the cell bars to where I could see him. "It's this collar they put on me, it weakens my powers. That's why I haven't busted out of this hell-hole yet" I chuckled. "A collar? what a sense of humor these people have" he growled at me, i put my hands up in defense. "Hey, I think it's wrong as much as you do. It could've been a bracelet or around your leg" he walked back to the bed in the cell and laid down. "I'm stuck in here for awhile, because of my 'outburst'" "Naughty boy" I teased him again. I felt a lot more comfortable around him, especially when he was in a cell. "So, that collar controls your powers huh? Smart people, my dad probably made that gizmo" I could see his hears perk up. "Your father?" "yes, he's a scientist for this place and helps a lot of people" I looked down at my feet, "but he doesn't have enough time for his daughter?" I looked up and looked over at him. He was now sitting on the bed facing me, "yea, how'd you-" "I can read minds" "I thought you said the collar subdued your powers" "That's not a threatening one" he shrugged and laid back down. "Aw, time for someone's nap?" he didn't say anything, I laughed and took my leave. "Goodnight" I could hear him whisper from his cell, I smiled and carried on.
