Authors Note: I shall be writing this over a long period of time. I hope to have a chapter uploaded each week. I decided to write this because I am a huge fan of the POTC films and of Johnny Depp. The first paragraph I had written in my notebook for a few weeks before I decided to elaborate on it. It was my friend, Abbie's idea for me to create a new character (the daughter). My friend and I sat during one of our free lessons together and came up with a character profile for the daughter and thought up ideas of how she could be linked into the previous films. I am researching the history of the film to help me write this so hopefully it will be sufficiently accurate. I hope you enjoy this book.

Chapter One.

A magnificent ship with sails as black as night was streaming along the horizon. A figure could be seen wandering the decks, clutching a half full bottle of rum. He seemed happy, or drunk if you would prefer, singing as he strolled across to the port side of the ship.

We pillage, we plunder, we rifle, and loot,

Drink up, me 'earties, yo ho.

We kidnap and ravage and don't give a hoot,

Drink up me 'earties, yo ho.

The pirate sang away as he tipped back his bottle and downed the last few drops. Mist began to gather around the ghostly looking ship.

"Eh..?" the pirate said, he slowly turned around. "Ah" he sighed as he looked at the now empty bottle of rum. "I'm scared of bloody thin air!" the pirate turned back round and wandered back to his cabin.

The whole ship was silent that night. All that could be heard was a gentle creaking noise that moved in harmony with the wind and waves. The 'calm before the storm'

A girl was standing on the port of Tortuga. She was not yet in her teens. She watched as it all happened that night. The first mate's betrayal. The mutiny against the captain of the ghostly ship. She watched in horror and disappointment. "I should have tried harder to make him listen." The girl watched in disbelief as the captain was fought and ridiculed by the rest of the crew. A few moments later she turned away and dragged her feet back to a woman in the distance and they both headed back into Tortuga.

Soon the world fell silent as the sky grew lighter and night gave way to the golden sun as it rose from just behind the horizon. The sea was shimmering as the sunlight danced upon it.

Many Years Later..

"Gibbs!? Where are you, ya scurvy dog!" Silence was shattered as a husky voice began to shout.

"Coming captain!" Gibbs shouted from below decks. "Sad day it is when an old sailor can't get a lie in.." He began to grumble. "On the Sabbath too!" Half asleep, Gibbs, former member of the kings navy, now a pirate sailing on the Black Pearl under command of the one and only Jack Sparrow. He crawled up the steps to the stern of the ship. "You called Jack?"

"That'll be captain to you sir!" Jack replied as he looked at Gibbs.

"Apologies Captain" Gibbs said in a rather sarcastic manner. Luckily Jack did not take note of Gibbs, but started moaning instead.

"'Captain' I tell them every time! Its captain Jack Sparrow! Never listen though. Maybe I should save them the bother of remembering and just get it written across my bloody forehead!" Jack ended a considerable amount louder than how he started his rant, this attracted the attention rather a lot of sailors who were now staring up at him. Jack looked down, confused as to why they were staring at him. "What?" he asked. The crew looked at each other then back at Jack as they shrugged their shoulders. None of them were too keen on confronting Jack. "Go on then, back to work!" He told them as he shook his hands and said "Shoo.. Go!" All the pirates scurried off back to work.

Jack beckoned Gibbs to come closer, as they leaned in to each other Jack had a quick skim round to make sure nobody was listening.

"I hear some sayings.. Or stories rather.." Jack said no louder than a whisper.

"Stories? captain?" Gibbs said as he tilted his head in confusion.

"Aye. Stories. Theses stories may or may not be true, this is what I am not sure of, truth be told." Jack looked at Gibbs, prompting him for a response.

"What are they?" Gibbs enquired eager to know more.

"Apparently..." Jack began.

"Yes?" Gibbs interrupted him.

"Shush. I'm telling you! Just hold on a minute.." Jack frowned and continued his story. "Apparently, there is someone searching for me and not just any someone either." Jack glanced around once more to be absolutely sure that no one was listening to them. "It's a girl. Not just any old girl either."

Gibbs began to chuckle. "What? A girl, searching?" he laughed "For you!? What in God's name did you do to her?" His laughter fell silent as Jack straitened up.

"I shall have you know, truthfully and honestly, from the bottom of my heart, I did nothing to this girl, least not that I am aware of anyway." Jack stated "Besides, I don't even know her."

"What, not even her name?" Gibbs asked.

"Nope." He looked relieved for some reason.

"Oh.." Gibbs sighed.  "So what do we do then?"

Jack smiled as he said "Tortuga!"
