______________________________________________________________________________“Why does the morning have to come so early” Isabella groaned as she tumbled out of her bed. She made her way to the porthole in her cabin and peered out. Thankfully it was quite dull, however there must have been some wind as the ship rose and sank every so often which made Isabella feel sick. “Dear god! I don't think I will ever drink again!” she said as she brought her hand to hold her head. Never before had Isabella understood the true meaning of a pounding headache till now. Slowly she got herself dressed and made sure to have some water before making her way to the helm.
“I do not like mornings!” Jack said to himself, still lying in his bed. He knew when he got up a headache would start so he had put it off until the very last second, there was faint voices from on deck that had woke him up much earlier however he had remained in bed determined to make the most of the peace. As he finally got up he misjudged the distance between him and a beam that ran above him supported by the corner posts of his bed. Thump “BUGGER--” just as Jack was about to let out a string of colourful words there was a knock at his door, “Sorry to bother you cap'n” it was Gibbs, “Angelica requests your presence at the helm”
“You can tell her ladyship I will be there when I'm good and bloody ready!” Jack walked over to where he had left his clothes, hand holding where he had banged his head and mumbling just about every foul word he had ever heard – which was a lot - he proceeded to get dressed.Angelica sat at Jack's desk up on the quarterdeck studying his maps and pieces of information he had gathered on Devil's Triangle and the king's ships. She couldn't help but feel there was something missing, something not right. How did Jack expect to take on three of the kings finest ships, even if he did have the Dutchman on his side they were still outnumbered by ships, fire power and swordsmen. On top of that why was Will Turner willing to help him? Angelica had him sussed as a good hearted man who had no desire for treasure, he was quite the opposite of Jack. Angelica decided to have a break, sure she was analyzing too much.
Isabella climbed up the steps to the quarterdeck to join her mother, she pulled her hat down over her brow to shield her eyes from the supernova that had emerged through a gap in the clouds. She smiled at her mother as she seated herself, “Good morning”
“It's two in the afternoon, Isabella”
“What!” Isabella lurched forwards causing her head to spin, she rested it in her hand and let out a groan, “I'm sorry I had a late night, must have overslept”
“I'm sure you did, have a nice time last night did we?”
“Mother, please I am perfectly capable of managing myself” clouds began to gather gain infront the sun and so Isabella removed her hat and set it down on the table, her face looked tired and her usual witty spark was not quite there yet. Angelica was concerned, Jack was a bad influence at the best of times and she especially did not want her daughter to become a drunk at her young age. “Your father's prestige is not one to follow. Be careful not to get yourself entwined in it too much my darling” Isabella could see that her mother was genuinely concerned and was glad there was someone on the voyage that she could trust.
“I know, I have not lost my values mother. I went to the same school you did and I have taken heed of when to be courteous and forgiving and when not to” she may have ended up a pirate but she was not stupid nor selfish. “Although If I may say, you aren't quite a paragon of good yourself” Isabella smirked at her mother and they both laughed.Jack emerged from his cabin disgruntled. He made his way up to the helm to see Angelica. When he saw her and his daughter sat at his table laughing he sighed and sat down. “Right, what've we got then?”
“Nothing” Angelica told him
“Eh?” Jack cocked his head and spun the papers round so that he could see them, “Well its all written there, everything you need to know!” he pointed at the pile of papers filled with almost illegible writing.
“That may be but we are outnumbered in every way, by reason we will never be able to pursue this” Angelica told him, He simply gave her one of his trademark smirks and said “Since when has that ever stopped me?” Angelica felt a smile creep over her face, she always found it difficult to resist Jacks charm.
Isabella rolled her eyes, “Right then Jack, show us some magic” She gave him a challenging smile.
“Definitely your fathers daughter” Angelica said
“Can we not have that sort of talk on my ship please” Jack was still uncomfortable with the concept of him being a father. “Isabella” he turned to face her, “You asked for magic and magic you shall have”
Jack began to explain his extensive knowledge of Devil's Triangle and how Calypso had come to settle there after the pirate lord's had set her free, thus making the Devil's triangle unpredictable and giving it it's name. Isabella of course found that story hard to believe until Will appeared from behind her startling her. “I know it's hard to believe ladies but he is actually telling the truth”
“Yes, I do it quite a lot and yet people are always surprised”
“Is that what you're still telling everyone?” a female voice – Elizabeth's this time. She remembered the last time he had used that phrase in her presence, he was as convincing now as he was back then.
Jack stood out of politeness and greeted her “You're still here then?”
“And a good afternoon to you too Jack” she scoffed. “You ought to be more polite in my presence. Are you forgetting that I outrank you Mister Sparrow?” Jack gave a pained sigh, she would never let him forget that.
“Outrank Jack?” Isabella asked intrigued despite Jack mouthing threats at her from across the table. “Do tell me more?”
“You, miss Sparrow are looking at the Pirate King” she raised her head slightly standing a little more proud to emphasize her stature.
“Well..” Isabella replied in disbelief, “He certainly left out that small detail!” Just as Jack thought she would leave out the reasoning behind her election Isabella piped up, “However, I have heard that you must be voted”
“Yes, that's right”
“But pirates only ever vote for themselves” Isabella said, all though she had an inkling as to what would come next by the expression on her fathers face.
“Yes, they do... Usually” she smiled at Jack. Isabella's mouth hit the floor and then erupted in laughter, “Are you being serious!?”
“Regrettably” Jack scowled “Did we not all commune here to devise a way of acquiring the finest plunder you can imagine?”
“Jack is right” Will sat down and began to look through Jacks notes and bearings. Jack not liking Will being in charge snatched the pieces of parchment and began telling everyone his plan. “So, there is three ships filled with treasure, they will be making their way north east through the triangle..” Jack placed a finger and trailed it in the direction of the ships, “We are coming from the north so should intersect them here..” He dropped a few drops of ink onto the map. “We shouldn't have to venture too far into the triangle, so really it's a matter of skill and catching them unawares” He smiled. Almost everybody looked indifferent except Elizabeth who gave Will a stern look before politely saying, “Will, can I please speak to you?” before marching off down the stairs.“Elizabeth, let me explain!” Will pleaded
“You'd better have a good reason for this! I should have asked why! I should know better!”
“Listen, Elizabeth” Will took her hands and looked her in the eye, “The reason I am accompanying Jack isn't for treasure! There's said to be a..” Will searched for the right word, “At the centre of the Devil's Triangle, there is a small island called Cala Codiciar”
“Cala Codiciar?”
“It's rumoured that there is some sort of presence that can grant a man's innermost desire” Will hopes that Elizabeth could follow what he was implying.
“And you know this for certain?” She was skeptical, with good reason too.
“No, but is the possibility not worth the risk?” Will looked at her, he wanted more than anyhting to be back on land with Elizabeth and he was willing to risk everything for any chance he might have, even if she wasn't. Elizabeth looked back at Will and leaned in to kiss him. “You had better hope this is not another of Jack's lies” she told him before placing a kiss on his lips.“Ah, come back to help?” Jack greeted Will and Elizabeth as they returned. Will sat down and spun the map round to face him. “I have a new plan” he smiled, “I think we should leave earlier and make a stop here” Jack watched will put his finger on the exact centre of the triangle “ Wait for the ships to pass that evening, shadow them till we reach the edge and then ambush them.” They all looked at him puzzled, “But why would we want to go all that way to follow them back?” Isabella questioned, Will looked at Jack, “I thought it might be good to take advantage of a rare opportunity”
“Which is?”
“Cala Codiciar”
“I though that was a myth!” Angelica gasped, “Jack?”
“Hold on, what exactly is Cala Codiciar?” Isabella cut in
“Spanish for 'Covet Cove” Angelica told her
“I know that but what is it?”
“Apparently, it has capabilities of making your most coveted wish a reality”
“Then why doesn't every sailor go there?”
“Because it's where Calypso resides when she is not wreaking havoc upon the seven seas” Jack sighed
“So how do we get there?” Isabella asked
“Might I remind you we gathered here to ambush three of the kings finest ships filled with treasures?”
“But Will's idea sounds better” Isabella gave Jack her best puppy dog eyes, Jack looked puzzled
“No, what are you doing?” He rose from his seat, Isabella still looked at him, “Isabella, no, stop it!”
“C'mon” she smilled, “Dad” Angelica smiled to herself. Jack walked off waving his arms in defeat, “Please your bloody selves!” He marched down the stairs and retired to his cabin horrified at these estranged emotions he had been feeling lately. Up on the quarterdeck the crew plotted their journey.
