What is the Emotion called Love?

First off what is an emotion,
Something that has your heart in motion,
Something that deserves your devotion,
Or something that is just a motivation?

Love is an emotion that we need,
And is not used for greed,
But what will do the love deed,
Is if our hearts were freed.

The heart is controlled by the brain,
And this fact is not to be taken in vain,
Because our brain drives our hearts insane,
But also causes our hearts' pain.

The brain knows what we think,
Keeping our thoughts, conscience and hearts in sync,
Causing common sense to sink,
Changing our minds in a blink.

We meet this entity,
Which we think is our destiny,
But between you and me,
I think that it was just meant to be.

We spend a while with this being,
Because this is all that we are seeing,
And we make our living,
With what our brains are believing.

Now our heart is broken,
From the time we had taken,
And don't be mistaken,
Because this is the path we had chosen.

Now we are in pain in our bed,
Because sadness lies ahead,
And the words of 'Love' we had said,
Was given to the dead.
Then a while later,
We are visited by our old partner,
Who wanted, again to be our lover,
And we tell them that it's over.

It is not that our heart has grown cold,
But the fact that that love is old,
And the words that were once told,
Are words that our brains sold.

So what is this emotion again,
Something that means our end,
Because we loved a friend,
But now these feelings we comprehend.

Just because we throw them into an abyss,
Doesn't mean we should dismiss,
The feelings that were amiss,
But enjoy them, because it is something to miss.
