Auntie Katniss.
Something was definitely off.

Running down the hallway felt strange as the lights began flickering on and off. Nevertheless, I made my way to the room where Ella had been, in pursuit of the strange man who had offered her candy. Whoever it had been was looking for me.
At the end of the hallway was the back of a helmet, something the Capitol was quite against. Had Ellie been there, she's be shaking her head, muttering about how helmets ruin your hair and "why would you want to ruin a good hairstyle?" Gun loaded, I snuck up to the invader, ready to shoot him whether he noticed me or not.
The stranger was speaking into a walkie talkie, perhaps to the rest of the District soldiers. Maybe he telling them that he successfully infiltrated this building. Maybe he was telling them that he was ready to shoot anyone he saw. Maybe he was telling them that he found me and Ella and was planning on taking us hostage. As I crept up closer, though, the conversation I overheard was not what I expected.
"Yea Gale, I found them. She was practicing with weapons, I think Ellie's gotten into her head."
"Have you found Katniss and Peeta yet?," said the voice in the device.
"No, not yet. Ella still has her memory. I tried asking her, you know, see if she saw where they are. She didn't have the slightest idea."
"Mace - "
Mace.
The name triggered my memory, and slowly things became more clear to me. The helmeted invader turned around, finding me now with my gun dropped and my eyes wide with realization of what had been done to me.
I've been tricked.
I've been drifting in and out of consciousness for the past two weeks.
I sold out my district's plan to kill Ellie.
I fought against my friend outside the lab.
I captured Katniss and Peeta.
I forgot it all, and was ready to kill them.
I nearly killed Mace.
I felt a bullet hit my left shoulder as I fainted. As I once again fell unconscious, I heard the distant call of my name from the boy with the green eyes.
Mace.
********
I found myself on the hospital bed once again, with a bandaged shoulder. The door was locked with ten different combination locks and blocked off with a table. In front of my bed was Ella and Mace.
"Sorry for shooting you. I was kinda scared you'd shoot me," he said.
I let out a weak laugh as Ella stepped closer to me. I ruffled her hair as she hugged me.
"Did you find them yet?" I asked, still weak from the blood loss.
"No, but we kinda had to change our plans after we got you again."
"So what are we doing now?"
"I'm taking Ella. You're going to pretend you're still being controlled by them. The story is you shot me and disposed of the evidence but before you shot me, I shot your shoulder. You have to go through with this until the execution, where you'll pull a Katniss and shoot Ellie instead of her. The rest of us will be dressed as Capitol citizens and stay hidden in the crowd. After you shoot, we'll come in and do the rest. Are you okay with that?"
"Where are you taking her?"
"She'll be with Effie. Effie's keeping her distance from the violence so Ella will be fine with her."
"Where will you be?"
"With you, fighting."
"Thank you."
He quietly unlocked and opened the door, and ran down the hallway quickly while carrying Ella, looking around to make sure no one was there. Moments later, Ellie burst in.
"The invader, oh dear, are you alright honey?" she asked, in her fake sweet tone.
"Don't worry, he's dead and dealt with already. Got a shot at my shoulder, but I can still fight," I replied, with no hint visible on me that I was spouting out lies.
"Well, good thing you've decided to help us now. We have an execution to prepare for. Aren't you just excited?!" She leaped like a cheerleader.
"Very," I said, quite flatly and sarcastically. It was a good thing Ellie failed to detect sarcasm.
I slowly got off the hospital bed and made my way to the weapons room, where I practiced more shooting.
Maybe I should've practiced lying to my captors instead.

Hello people of Earth, it is I and I have returned from the darkness to bring you another chapter with WORDS. The darkness has held me captive in its belly for a long, long time and I'm still sorta in its belly but I finally have a computer so yay update.
To be real though, sorry I haven't updated in... six months? A year? Forever? I don't even know, I've lost track. There's been a lot of stuff going on in life right now, from contemplating the meaning of life to freaking out about life to being extremely busy trying not to freak out about life and all that shizzz. For the past however-long-it's-been, I've been on a mission to understand myself and what I want to do with my future, and I'm proud to say that I have failed. I have no aim, I fail at life yay. Nevertheless, I do plan to keep updating and seeing where writing takes me because this is my favorite thing to do (besides music-y stuff).
Vote/comment/share/cry for about an hour every day because you tried to think about what happens after you die and how it feels to die and now you're frazzled and scared and freaked out.
There's a dead fly on my computer screen and I'm too lazy to clean it... yea I'm going to be something VERY amazing in life. *sighs in disappointment at self*
