"Well, um, pick any side of the bed and I'll join in a moment."
"Thanks, by the way."
"What for?"
"You know, letting me stay. And share a bed with you no matter how awkward."
"Henry, we've been over this - "
"News flash Allie! It's been two years! I think that's enough time for someone to get over someone else!"
"No it isn't! If you knew how much I loved him you'd shut up and stop talking about it!"
"It is enough time! I stood here patiently waiting and you expect me to sleep in the same bed as you without bringing it up!"
"I didn't ask you to sleep here! You came to me at your own accord!"
"Well then I'll be leaving!"
"Fine then! Give up! I never knew you were such a quitter! I wouldn't have let myself dream about you if I knew you gave up so easily!"
"Who said I did?" he said, in a softer tone.
For the past two years Henry has been trying to make moves on me. He even went so far as to send money every month. I wrote to him to tell him to stop because we were already doing fine.
"You didn't before. But times change and so do people."
"You're right. We all change. But that doesn't mean the past isn't still latching onto us. We are made up of who we are now, who we were before, and who we will be. And I'll tell you one thing my past, present, and future have in common: they all include you."
It was silent for a moment, and the atmosphere had suddenly changed from awkward to angry to - well, romantic and at the same time, uncomfortable.
After a minute later I spoke up.
"It's getting late. We should probably just go to sleep."
"I guess so."
The next morning, I woke up earlier to start making breakfast. Peeta had taught me how to make pancakes, and so that is what I tried making, for the first time alone.
An hour later, Henry, Arisa, and Ella had all woken up to the smell of pancakes.
"Good morning! Sorry about the lack of syrup. Didn't have any and the store was closed."
"Don't worry," Arisa said. "I prefer mine with fruits anyway."
No one seemed to mind the fact that I used fruit purée and some berries as opposed to syrup. In addition, they also didn't seem to mind that the blueberries looked a bit like nightlock. Thankfully, no one fell dead. Nor did they fall unconcious.
Henry took care of Ella while Arisa and I went hunting. I was planning on possibly cooking a turkey for dinner. Once beyond the fence, I took my hunting supplies out of my hollow tree and dug out my emergency back-up hunting weapons from deep within the ground.
"So how've you been coping?"
"I wouldn't call it coping. Everything passes in a blur ever since Ariana died."
"Same with me for Caleb. And Aspen. And you, before I found out you weren't dead."
"Yeah, that was painful and difficult to pull off. And I mean that in more ways than one."
"So everyone else is okay, I assume?"
"Yeah, we're all fine. My mom started dating again."
"Oh that's great!"
"I know. She's been so much happier ever since she's met Xander!"
"Glad to hear it! How long?"
"Strong for a year long!"
"Oh my gosh that's amazing! Should I start dating?"
"Is this about yesterday?"
"What about yesterday?"
"Come on, I heard your little fight with Henry. The walls are really thin at your place."
"The whole thing?"
"Yep. And I think you should start dating. And start with Henry. I swear, the boy is a lovesick puppy. The three of us were invited to the Capitol a month ago and he couldn't stop asking about you."
She then cleared her throat am began in a lower voice which I assume is her boy-impersonating voice. "'Why isn't Allie here? When is she coming? Did you forget Allie? Don't you dare take me away from my woman!'"
"He really said that?"
"Almost all of it. I made up that last one."
"Is it that bad?"
"He really likes you. And I can tell you like him too."
"But - "
"Caleb. Don't blame the poor guy, he's dead. The only one keeping you from happiness is you."
"Okay, that right there was a totally cliche line."
"Does it really pop up that often?"
"All the time. I swear, maybe one out of every three books and movies say that line."
"Oh gosh, the clicheness. Ugh."
"We're ordinary! I don't like it."
"But the thought of you and Henry together makes all the pain go away."
"Wait what - ?"
"Hallie! Yep, I did the same thing the public did with you and Caleb. I used to support Callie but now I heart Hallie!"
"Oh no, not this again."
And the afternoon was spent with me trying to find a turkey and Arisa constantly yelling "Hallie" in my ear. I heart turkey.

So you'd expect an apology here but I can't say sorry. I spent the whole time watching the week-long Doctor Who marathon on BBC America. #sorrynotsorry
And you can tell by the fact that I incorporated the smallest amount of 11's speech from "Time Of The Doctor" into the dialogue. Again, I'm really not that sorry. In fact, you should be THANKING me because if I didn't slack off, that little bit of dialogue wouldn't be as effective as it is now! I'm kidding, don't worry...about the thanking me part not the Doctor.
Now I really really really want fictional characters to be real!
