"I'll kill those lovebirds myself."

I took Ella down the hallway towards the cafeteria for breakfast. I looked over my shoulder and found Ellie looking at me with a smile full of pride.
*******

I looked down at the disappointing bowl of oatmeal on the table in front of me. I only ate a small spoonful. It was absolutely tasteless. Ella had already thrown her bowl of oatmeal on the ground.

I miss yummy food.

I got up to dump out my bowl of misery when I noticed a strange new feeling on my left leg.

"We got you a new prosthetic. The old one was... outdated," said Ellie's voice behind me.

The new leg felt different. In a good way. It made me more eager to jump into action.

Without replying to Ellie, I picked up Ella and set her on the ground. Holding her hand, I walked out of the cafeteria slowly behind Ellie, adjusting to the prosthetic.

She took us to our temporary room, where I told Ella to "sit still and sing a song and Mommy will be right back." I then headed for the lab, where I tried out a bow and arrow set with explosive arrows. Ellie had taken the arrows shot by Katniss during the Second Rebellion and upgraded it to create a stronger explosion, as well as a scanner which detects presence of life and death toll. For the sake of the lab, I decided to practice shooting with a regular set of arrows rather than the explosive ones.

"Don't waste the explosive ones on the Mockingjay and her companion. Save those for when we take over the Districts."

I simply nodded to her and shot yet another arrow, right at the center of a target that had the specific body shape of Katniss herself. There were twenty other Katniss targets stacked together in the corner of the training room, and twenty similar targets shaped like Peeta in the other side of the room. Clearly, the Plan B army has been planning on killing Katniss and Peeta for a while.

"So are we going fancy with this execution?" I asked.

"What do you mean?" asked a slightly confused Ellie.

"Seeing as our side of the fight has won," I said slowly, then speeding up, "we should make the execution a bit... festive. I'm thinking we should decorate the area with colorful streamers and paint the arrows. But not with red, since they'll be enough red on the arrows after I shoot them. And maybe I could wear a Capitol-like outfit when I kill them to celebrate our win. It should be a happy occasion, or at least to us."

"I'll talk to Snow about it. I think he'll like the idea a lot."

She finally left the room, and I had time to shoot arrows in silence while thinking about the events leading up to our victory (or at least all I could piece together).

I am a spy for the Capitol.

I was kidnapped by the rebels.

They tortured me and cut off my leg.

They tried to kill our glorious leader

Snow saved me and I got a prosthetic leg.

The rebels attacked.

They tried to steal Ella.

The rebels lost.

I volunteered to kill Katniss and Peeta.

"MOMMY!" I heard Ella's familiar scream. I made a frantic run towards the door, when Ella burst in.

"Mommy, I saw auntie Katniss!"

Auntie?

"Ella, you're probably mistaken, you don't have an auntie."

"But Mommy-"

"That's enough Ella. Why did you come out of your room?"

"A strange man broke the door and told me he had candy. He tricked me."

"A strange man? Do you remember how he looks?"

"He was carrying a scary gun. I asked him what his name is. He said if he told me, someone will do something bad to him."

"What do you mean by something bad?"

"I can't say it. It's the k-word."

"Kill?"

She shyly nodded her head. I crouched down and planted a kiss on her forehead.

"Stay here and if Ellie comes in, tell her to take you back to your room."

As I got up to leave, Ella burst into tears.

"Mommy, you're always busy. I miss you."

I quickly turned on my heels and hugged her. I whispered to her, "I'm sorry, baby. Everything around us right now is scary. There are monsters everywhere, Ella. But I'll fight them for you. I'll save you so that it'll be you and me forever and ever."

She wiped away her tears as I picked up my bow and arrow and left.

Yet I couldn't help but linger.

Auntie Katniss.

Auntie Katniss.

Something was definitely off.
