Chapter 2

Joey's POV

     "This is it!" Talking to myself through the rearview mirror. I put on a lip tint before stepping out of the car.

     I grabbed my laptop bag, fished out my phone from my pocket and checked the time. It is 30 minutes before 8, great. I got in the office on time. Still got 30 minutes to patch some things up. I went straight to the elevator all the way up to the 31st floor of ILH Tower I, where the conference room is located, I forgot to mention that my office is at the Tower II. Stepping out of the elevator usherettes greeted me with wide smiles and guided me to the room.

"Ms. Irvine!" I heard Mr. Carter's voice.

"Oh hey. How are you? Have you seen my secretary?" I asked.

"I saw Mia a while ago with Sophia. They are having a little catching up since Sophia just arrived the country last night and she was not informed that you were having a meeting with the investors. I guess Mia will be here in a moment. But if you want, I can call her now to go right here quickly." He explained.

     So, that Sophia Miguel arrived already. I am wondering how she'd looked like. Maybe she's an oldie like the others. I guess, I'll talk to her later.

"Ma'am? What do you think?" Mr. Carter asked.

"Uhm.. No. Maybe she badly needs Mia right now, let her be with Sophia first. Anyways, I got her number, I'll just send her sms whenever I need her." I said walking to my designated chair with Mr. Carter behind me.

     My name was written on a white sheet placed on top of the table, Sophia's name is on the table beside mine so it means that we will be seat mates for the rest of the meeting. Exactly 8 in the morning,  board of directors, Investors and officers were all seated to their designated seats aside from the one and only Sr. Accountant, Ms. Miguel. I wonder where she could be. As far as I know, she came earlier than me. Is she really that old not to remember the time of the meeting? But it is impossible, I thought.

      Finally, President Dohn David called the attention of the people inside the conference room. He officially started the meeting even without Ms. Miguel. He made a roll call and greeted everybody joyfully. Dohn finally called me and introduced me.

"Everyone, may I introduced to you my newly hired General Accounting Manager, Ms. Johanna Eya Irvine. She's a degree holder in Accountancy and I proudly say that she topped the board exam of her batch. Indeed one of the brightest CPAs of our country."  He  introduced.

I stood up to thanked Mr. David. After doing so, he proceeds with the actual program. In the middle of his opening remarks a lady in red dress and off-white blazer entered the room silently and took the seat beside me. Obviously, she caught everyone's attention since our seat was located far from the room's entrance. I looked at her with a blank expression, she returned a quick smile before opening the laptop in front of her.

    "So, she's Sophia Miguel. Wow. I didn't see that coming. I mean, I really thought that she's an oldie since a lot of my subordinates are. But boy I was wrong. I think she's about my age. She looked stunning on her outfit no wonder why she caught everyone's attention. And her pearly white set of teeth is really captivating. Her oozing charisma filled the room. If there's a muse in the set of officers in this company, I bet she'll automatically take the spot." I thought to myself without noticing that I am staring at her.

"Ehem!.. I heard her fake coughed which drew me from losing myself in my own thoughts. "Ms. Irvine, right? I think it's your time to take the stage and gain our company a lot of new investors. Mr. David had been calling you to take the chance a few times now." She said without looking straight at me instead keeping her eye on the files she's browsing. "I got you backed up, don't worry." She finally had the chance to looked at me and again smiled.
