Ariana Ryder

I stared at the lifeless body in total awe. The perfectly painted pale skin mixed with deep red of blood. White clothes soaked in blood. Something stabbed in the gut. Raven black hair spread across the floor.

But the thing which sent shivers down my spine were the lifeless green eyes .... yes, the dead girl in the painting was Mia.

Lennox had couriered that painting to Mia or rather gifted. The painting was so detailed that one would think someone had just killed Mia and clicked a photo.

Mia was scared and was crying. She went to her room and locked it behind her. I can understand what she was going through. Or maybe not.

Alec stared at the painting for a while but soon turned his face away. I hid the painting in my room so Mia would never have to see this again. Of course I would burn it later. I decided to give Mia some time and Alec agreed.

I had never seen or met Lennox but after seeing the death painting I had no plans to meet her. I definitely have to do something about it... but what? I tried finding Lennox, but so far my attempts weren't successful. I tried to search Lennox on Facebook but I got many results since I didn't even knew her first name. And now I didn't think I wanted to ask Mia....

Alec left after some time.

I went to the kitchen to get some water.

My phone rang. It was my mom. I felt grateful that she had called.

I really needed to talk to someone.

"Hi, mom..." I said, my voice full of true emotions.

"Are you OK, Ari?" She asked.
She must've sensed my distress.

"I'm ok mom... How are you doing?"

"I'm just fine. We miss you a lot here. The house feels hollow without you." she said.

I felt better.

"By the way, is that Green still staying with you?" She asked out of nowhere.

"Yes, mom. She's here." I said

Suddenly, it striked me that mom had said something about her being creepy.

"Hey, mom... What's up with this Mia? I mean you said she was a creep. What's going on?" I asked.

"Well, honey, she was weird." mom said.

I wasn't satisfied.

"Weird? In what sense?" I pressed.

"Like she talked to some kind of imaginary friend of hers. She treated her like a human. It was funny at first. But then it became serious... Like she fell off the steep stairs, broke her arm and claimed that her imaginary friend did it."

I did remember that Mia broke her arm.

"And then I was worried about you honey. I was pregnant with Jonas and I had to keep an eye on you when you played with her. That was a lot of work. So we decided to shift..."

So That was the real reason we shifted.

"Oh..." was all I could manage to say.

I hung up after convincing my mom that everything was OK.

I couldn't get mom's words out of my head. And in addition to that, I remembered what Emily said.

Something was wrong.
