The following day was completely normal. No one wanted to talk about the fires or mirrors which was completely understood.
Alec was trying to make Mia laugh by his silly jokes and clever comments.
Mia seemed to enjoy that.
Alec kept giving me flirty smiles and winks. I just smiled and nodded. My mission 'Keep- Alec -away- from -computer' had been accomplished. So I just kept my distance from him but I flirted a little in order to keep him off the track.
I went to my room after a while.
I checked my mails and that reminded me that my college starts in 15 days. The incidents that took place few days ago made me forget why I came here.
Mia left for dance academy and I left for my decent job. Everything went as normal as possible. I managed to make friends with Diana. Actually, I didn't have to make any special efforts since Diana was chirpy. She was one of those people who liked to make their love life public.
She and her boyfriend Eric were apparently having some troubles which I guess is normal. I didn't really pay any attention just nodded and added smiles to make it look like I was listening. Diana didn't really mind it.
"Anti aging cream... he gift me anti aging cream!" Diana yelled emphasizing on cream.
Apparently Eric gifted Diana anti aging cream. But he had apologized and admitted that it was a big goof up. He had bought two gifts. One was for Diana and the other was for his mom. But since both gifts were wrapped in same gift paper so it got exchanged. Diana ended up with the cream and his mom ended up with neon bikini.
I controlled my giggles. But I could burst any minute. Just then I had a brain wave. I should gift a new mirror to Mia and advise her to forget the past and move on and start anew. I should also tell Alec about this.
Hours after the idea hit me, me and Alec were choosing mirror. Neither of us being choosy, we chose a full length mirror with delicate creepers of pink roses around it's corners. "Nice choice" Alec said after we left the shop.
The mirror would be delivered within two hours. "I can't wait to see Mia's reaction." I said and Alec agreed.
"Hey, Aria..." Alec said.
"What?" I questioned
"You see when Mia goes off to her dance thing..."
"Uh huh.." I beckoned him to go on.
"Look, I know you're lonely when she goes so..."
"So?" I asked not really knowing what he was trying to convey.
"Maybe I could join you in your loneliness and we can reduce your stress and you know..." He trailed off grinning mischievously.
I widened my eyes and slapped him playfully on shoulder.
"I wasn't kidding..." He yelled and we burst out laughing.
We headed to our area laughing and cracking weird jokes.
When I got home Mia was already there and soon we were watching TV. The door bell rang and I knew it was the mirror.
Indeed it was.
I called up Alec and he was in our apartment a minute later.
"What is it?" Mia asked curiously.
We told her to unwrap the big, flat package.
"You guys! You will sure spoil me!" She jumped up and down when she saw the mirror.
We asked the delivery dude to fix it in her room. She loved the floral design.
The door bell rang once more. Don't worry I had bought only one mirror.
This time it was a courier for Mia. She received the courier and sat on the chair to open it. She saw the insides of the box and dropped it immediately.
She looked at us with mixed expressions. Shock, anger, disgust, hatred and fear. Curiously, I went over to the box picked it up. I wish I hadn't because never in my life I saw something so horrible in my life......
