Chapter Four: Gone

I drive into the town where Carl used to live. I look at the small town and stop the car. We get out and start to walk towards a house. "I haven't seen the place in a while. I grew up here" Carl said smiling some at his childhood home before we walk inside. Carl and I walk upstairs since Carl said there is no food here. Carl walks into his old room grabbing some things while I walk into my dad and Lori's room. I look at the jewelry that she had, I pick up a necklace that I just love. I hear a voice behind me.

"She would've wanted you to have it, keep it," Carl said walking over the nightstand. He picks up a picture of him, Lori, and Dad he sticks it into his bag. "I got what I came in here for. Ready? There's a baby store up the road and a school across the street from that," Carl says as I slip the necklace into my pocket before looking at Carl as I nod.

"There's also a clothing store and grocery store by there too." He says as we walk back to the car. I drive down the street and we get everything we need: baby clothes, diapers, baby food, lots of other baby stuff including a crib and playpen, clothes for everyone, food, and then I found some papers that were Carl's at the school so I kept those too. We then go back to the prison. It is nightfall before we get there. Dad and the others aren't back yet. So we set things up, the playpen in our kitchen/hang out room. Then her crib in my room/cell. I slip into pajama pants, a white t-shirt, black hoodie, and Nightmare Before Christmas socks. I hear car doors slam, I hear four doors slam closed. I run outside to see Dad, Glenn, Carol, and Maggie but no Dixon. There are more people coming off a bus from Woodbury.

"Dad? Where's Dixon?" I ask once I realize he isn't here at all.

"He got separated from the group," Dad says.

"So you left without him?!" I yell at my father before running off to my room where Judith is asleep. I lay on my bed and fall asleep. After a few days everyone has given up on Dixon ever coming back but me. Every day I sit in that guard tower watching for him. The same guard tower that we almost had our first kiss. I was....am so angry that he didn't come back. He's strong he should've been back by now! Maybe, just maybe he isn't coming back to us....to me..at all.
