[CHAPTER 6] Rescue

That night, after dinner and some spell practices with Arlin, I managed to hold back a yawn at what Arlin was talking about. And, what else? His brand new lover.

"Mandela said Katie is probably the most annoying cousin she's had," Arlin said, chuckling. "There was this one time she tried out for quidditch, but Katie beat her to it, and Mandy ended up faking she was happy Katie got it."

"Yeah, yeah," I said, pointing my wand at a piece of paper. "Reducto!"

As I smirked in delight as it vanished, Arlin continued. "She said she was also in Gryffindor and was your roommate. Why didn't you tell me? All I could hear about your roommate is Hermione."

"Um, Arlin, do me a favour," I said, standing up and looking at him sternly. "Stop this nonsense and declare your love for her, okay?"

"What?! I-I," he stammered, turning firetruck red. "No! She's just...interesting! And nice!"

"Don't deny it," I said. Before he can retort I yawned. "I'm taking a nap. I'll set my alarm in to ten and you do the same."

"I do not have a crush on Mandela!" he exclaimed, as I set my alarm clock.

"Potatoes, tomatoes," I yawned, plopping on my bed and facing the wall. I felt the bed sink behind me so I turned around, seeing Arlin kick off his slippers and lay down beside me. "What are you doing?"

"Hey. You slept through your alarm for the Leaky Cauldron and I ended up waking you up so you'd get in on time," Arlin said, laying his head on the pillow.

"No way in this bloody world am I sleeping beside someone who's not related to me!" I shrieked, sitting up. "Arlin, you're the heaviest snorer and sleep like you have ants in your pants!"

He pouted. "Am not!'

"Stop it," I groaned, shoving him so hard he fell off the bed on his rump. "Goodnight, Arlin."

I heard grumbles, then footsteps, before I heard the door closed. I sighed, standing up and snapping off the main lights since my room has no lamp and falling asleep.

"Tops! Hello?"

"Hmm...Leave me alone! I wouldn't tell nothing!"

"Topsy, it's me! Do you hear me?"

"K-Kataleen?"

"Yes, it's me! Are you okay?"

"I would be if you'd get me out of here!"

"That's my Topsy. Now come on before they come back!"

"But...he's after me. I can't escape from him! No one can!"

"B-But we can do this together! We can try! Please!"

"Kataleen, I'm not letting you get involved in this!"

"Why, Topsy? W-Why do you care so much for me?"

"Kataleen, it's complicated, but you should leave now!"
