What was James going to do? His daughter didn't want to go to school, so next year he'd set her up with homeschooling. But they'd need a house. He wanted Samantha to be happy, but it was costing.
He had to get a house, and move all of his stuff. He didn't have alot of cash. He could hardly afford to buy a house at all. If he sold his maybe, but then he'd need to hire a moving truck to pack it al and get it here. Finding a buyer would be hard as well.
This was the third house he'd looked at today. City houses were normally in bad shape. Unless you had a large amount of money, the you might actually find something in good condition. He didn't have that. Up until recently he'd barely been surviving with the money he had.
He'd just taken care of the payments on his house. He cared too much for his daughter though. What would he do for a job? He could probably find something in black top. It was rough work, but he could do it.
He decided the house was fine and payed for the whole thing on the spot. He only had twenty six dollars left. He knew he was in trouble. He counted again and cursed. He needed to find a job fast.
He knew something he could do, but it would take some gas. He could head to an old phone booth and use the phone book inside. James decided to do it. He could find a job company and call them up.* * *
Samantha couldn't believe it. He dad was finding a house so they could live there. She'd received something from the man in the hospital that told him of his mother's death. A letter saying everything inside the apartment needed moved out. Her father had already taken care of that.
She was in the local library right now, trying to read books. Her mind would always drift to Johnathan, or what her father was doing.
She didn't know what to say to her father. She hadn't see him in years, and then he'd been an alcoholic. He seemed to have cleaned up, but she was still nervous around him. She'd told him almost everything though. That'd taken a good hour.
Johnathan was so good to her. She didn't know why. Everyone else was so mean. She was afraid something was going to happen. Every time she started to feel happy, something bad happened.
Then she realized it was late and her father hadn't returned. She had a small moment of panic. Did something happen? Was he okay? Did he wreck too? Please say he's okay.
Then she saw his old beat up car pull up. She breathed a sigh of relief. He showed her the new house, an actual house! She was so happy. She ignored that nagging fear and enjoyed the new home, no matter how small it was. He pulled a blanket out of the car, and she soon fell asleep wrapped in it on the floor.
