Amelie

As soon as I stepped over to the other side I slipped off the edge of some high off the ground roof, but before falling to my death Xavier and Doris managed to catch me. Just as I'm screaming and dangling beside the tall building the portal closes back up, and there's no trace of a door in the middle of a rooftop anywhere.

Xavier and Doris pulled harder until I got back up where it was safe and gave both of them a quick hug.

"Thank you!" I yelled, slightly embarrassed at being so careless about my surroundings, I just didn't expect that.

"You okay?" Doris asked, and I nod in reply as Xavier started leading the way.

"Do you know where we're going?" I asked.

"To find the first person." he replied.

"Do you know where they are?" Elizabeth asked on my behalf.

"The Head gave me some sort of compass thing to find them." he said. Huh, never would've figured that a fifteen year old boy could comprehend a compass.

"Now, less talking and more walking." he said, and I nodded. It was true, I was afraid that if I didn't shut my mind up soon, something wrong would spill out of my mouth.

We all filed out of the building through the fire escape and started walking alongside of abandonned buildings and desolated streets. Everything looked old. Far too old for us to be in any part of New york. I scrunched up my eyebrows in confusion, but said nothing about it until we reached the place where there was at least a small amount of population. I went up to one of the people, hearing Xavier calling back to me, but I went anyways. I approached the only smiley person from the whole park. A chubby woman in her mid forties, probably. She sat in a bench petting her pet cat that also sat on the bench hissing at me.

I hate cats.

"Good afternoon ma'am. I am a little new here in the States and I'm here with my friends on a trip from our school back in England, could you be kind enough to tell me and my mates where we are?" I made an english accent just lto make it more believable.

"Sure thing hun." she replied, I heard a bit of a texan accent which wasn't a good sign at all. "You're in Nameless, Texas hometown or a small texan society." she replied. Oh shoot.

"Thanks again ma'am." I said, making sure the accent was still evident.

"No problem." her eyes glimmered a little as she said that and I couldn't help but feel little ants crawling up my neck at the weird vibes I felt coming from her. And I won't lie when I say that I literally felt her dissappear right behind me.

"Where did she say we were?" Doris asked.

"Is she gone?" I asked, and they all nodded in reply.

"She said we were uh, in Nameless Town." I replied.

"Where's that?" Roman asked.

"Texas."

"What?!" Elizabeth yelled.

"It's not a surprise we're here." Anne said. I noticed Xavier look up at her with this weird look. He was probably confused as to how she could have possibly known something about it, and I quickly deducted this was our first destination. Where we will meet our first person out of plenty more.

"Hey, so where are we suppossed to go now?" I asked using my hands to push my hair away from my eyes.

"How am I suppossed to know?" he snapped, and I lifted up my hands in surrender. This guy just doesn't seem to like me at all.
