Chapter 13

My systems slowly rebooted. I wished my pain receptors hadn't. I grabbed my head with both hands as I onlined my optics. "Oh!" I groaned.

Looking above me, I saw the ceiling of the medical bay on the Nemesis. i tried to get up, only to get pushed back down by a shiny red mech.

"You're too weak to go anywhere. Megatron saw Prime give you a good punch before they fled the scene."

The memories came flooding back into my processor. "How many days has it been?" I asked urgently. "Where are we?"

"Still on this dirt mound of a planet. It's only been a few hours. I'm quite surprised actually. I wasn't expecting you to grace us with your consciousness for a few days. You have a concussion so I'm confining you to this berth until I can clear you for duty."

"Is Megatron angry?"

"No. He was when he left, but he was fine when he brought you back. Why?"

"I thought he would- never mind." I decided that it would be best if Knockout didn't know about what happened with the Autobots. I didn't trust him with this kind of information, and I only liked him for his looks. I may as well just throw away any hope I had of being with him since I was inevitably going to switch sides. Besides, I could get another mech if I wanted. I wasn't oblivious to my good looks.

"Hmm...that hit must have done more damage than I thought."

"What?" I asked, snapping out of my thoughts. "No, I'm fine. Where are the Storm Triplets?"

He stepped aside, allowing me to view Windstriker. "Thunderfang and Lightningfang are with Megatron in the communication center."

I hummed in acknowledgement then finally relaxed. Everything was as it should be, and no one suspected a thing about me defecting however near or far away it may be.

"You'll have to stay here overnight. I want to make sure that blow didn't affect your processor any deeper than a concussion."

"Very well," I sighed. I was thankful that he left me with my thoughts. It gave me time to sort through them and decide what I was ultimately going to do.

I quickly decided that I couldn't drop those bombs on the Autobots' A.A. guns on Cybertron. It would give the Decepticons the ability to do whatever they wanted. It wouldn't win the favor of my soon-to-be new faction either.

Secondly, these Earth Autobots didn't even have a way of getting to Cybertron. I'd have to download the blueprints. I'd also have to get a download of the mine network. Primus knows these Autobots didn't have enough energon to sustain themselves, let alone power a whole space bridge.

The cats...I would take them with me. The Autobots would probably love to see them again.

As for Megatron? Sure, I'd have a huge bounty on my head, and literally every Decepticon in the universe would be trying to kill me, but it would all be worth it in the end, right? For the sake of not having to fight when there was no reason or cause for it? Yes, I was sure I was doing the right thing.

The next day, I got the downloads I needed as soon as Knockout cleared me for duty. Unfortunately, though, I met Starscream on my way to the Communication center. He decided he was tired of me "making a mockery of his position." He left several gashes in my chasis.
