"Oh thank goodness you're okay." Hiccup relieved as I woke up from getting smacked by Merida. "How are we supposed to heal Merida if she keeps attacking us?" Hiccup questioned.

My head was throbbing but I tried my best to ignore it and focus on helping Merida. "You need to distract her. We can use her anger to our advantages," I started, "I'll act like I'm still knocked out and you lure her over here." I demanded and laid back down so it looked like I was still unconscious.

Hiccup didn't ask any questions. "Jack, something's wrong with Rapunzel. She's not waking up." His worried tone was very convincing, and for a moment I thought something actually was wrong with me.

I kept my eyes slightly open so that I could see what was going on. I saw Jack instantly stop fighting Merida and run to my side.

Merida looked over at us and laughed hysterically. "This is just precious, Jack coming in to save poor little Punzie. You guys are cute together." Merida mocked.

"Merida, why are you doing this?" Hiccup asked.

"Because you need to feel my pain." she stated through gritted teeth.

"What pain?"

"The pain of having no control and losing everything you love." Merida explained with enmity.

"You're a monster." Jack growled. He held me securely in his arms and I had to fight the heat that was flooding into my cheeks.

"You do know that Merida can still see and hear you, right? She can understand everything you're saying to her and she's not too happy about you calling her a monster." she replied.

Jack's face turned to shame and then quickly changed back to anger. "I'm not telling her, I'm telling you."

"Don't you see, I am Merida. A better and more free version of Merida."

"You're not Merida. She wouldn't hurt her friends." Hiccup exclaimed.

"You're right, she wouldn't... unless her friends had hurt her. Kind of like how you did." Merida responded.

"I would never hurt her." Hiccup stated.

Merida's face seemed to soften a little bit but quickly converted back into pure rage. "No, no, no! I'm in control!" she screamed at herself and held her head.

She released her head and charged Hiccup. He had no time to react before Merida grabbed a hold of his throat once more. In an attempt to free himself from Merida's death grip, Hiccup kicked her until she staggered backwards.  Hiccup then pinned her to the floor before she could do anything else.

I took this as my opportunity. I quickly wrapped my hair around her as Hiccup held her down. "Stop!" she shrieked at me.

"Flower gleam and glow. Let your power shine. Make the clock reverse, bring back what once was mine. Heal what has been hurt, change the fate's design, save what has been lost, bring back what once was mine. What once was mine." I quickly sang. My hair glowed around her and lit up the dark room we were in.

"No!!" Merida screamed in anger. Her black hair started to slowly change back into a fiery red and her skin tone began to return to its usual pale color. Her scream began to fade as she lay still for a minute. After a couple seconds, she opened her eyes that had reclaimed the original ocean blue eyes she normally had.

She looked up and stared deep in the eyes of Hiccup with a smile starting to develop on her face. "Hiccup!" she exclaimed as she pulled him close to her and kissed him.

All of my anxiety was replaced with joy as I watched them kiss and embrace each other.  They held each other like it was the end of the world. Their kiss, while soft, was also passionate and full of strong emotion. They pulled back and smiled at each other lovingly.
